Welcome back. The MUM openers are walking out to the middle. HYD have a good bowling line-up. Can they defend this? It's going be very tough though! MUM should back themselves to chase this down and get to the play-offs.
For MUM, Malinga and McClenaghan bowled superbly up front. McClenaghan ended up with three wickets to his name. The spin twins Harbhajan and Suchith also snaffled crucial scalps. Remember, the winner of this game will qualify for the playoffs.
MUM's bowlers put up an excellent effort with the ball, as the hosts slumped towards a below par total. It was Lasith Malinga who gave MUM the perfect start by snaring the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan with a searing yorker. Mitchell McClenaghan then bowled with verve and purpose to take the key wickets of David Warner and Eoin Morgan. KL Rahul looked to steady the innings. However, with Harbhajan Singh sending him back to the pavilion, their hopes of registering at least a par score was dashed.

We thought it might come on with the new ball and slow down later, that's why wickets at the top were crucial. The spinners too bowled really well in the middle overs. It was a complete performance. The guys will be up for it, we don't lose many there (talking about Wankhede stadium). Bit of rest for a night and then we will be back at it once again.'

Rohit: 'It has been a great journey. We have had a mixed season, we didn't start off well at all. I talked to the boys how we are playing two tournaments, we forgot the first one and did well in the next. The boys never held their heads down and they all took up the challenge. The support staff also helped us so much. After the first 6 games, they turned it around and here we are. You can't afford to make too many mistakes. You have to bring out your A-game all the time. After playing the way we did in the first 6 games and to qualify for the playoffs has been magnificent. This game was a final for us, we wanted to come out and do our basics right. We wanted to continue how we did in the last few games. It was a clinical performance, especially how McClenagahan started. Malinga is always there when we need him. It will be very special to play at the fortress. Mumbai and Chennai will provide them good entertainment.'
Warner: 'Disappointing way to finish the tournament. Losing myself and Shikhar so early was probably what cost us. It was always going to be difficult from there. We can work on a few things. The positives are the way we worked really hard, but it's quite disappointing to finish this way. The crowd's been fantastic and hopefully, we can turn our fortunes around next year.'
Earlier, MUM's bowlers put up a stupendous effort with the ball to skittle out the opposition ranks. It was Lasith Malinga and Mitchell McClenaghan, who gave them a rousing start by sending Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner and Eoin Morgan back to the pavilion. Rest of the bowlers followed up the able pace duo by taking crucial wickets. With this victory, MUM have qualified for the playoffs. They also end the league phase of this year's T20 League as the second placed team in the points table. As a result of that, they will take on CHN in Qualifier 1. KOL, who needed this game to be a washout, now can't qualify for the playoffs.
Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel played with flourish to guide MUM to a facile victory. With a flurry of fine shots, the opening duo didn't allow the opposition bowlers to keep the lid on the scoring rate and take wickets. Parthiv also essayed a fine fifty. HYD have themselves to blame for as they got bowled out for a paltry total.
MUM players can been seen exchanging hugs in the dugout. The players walk out to exchange handshakes with their counterparts. MUM deserved this win as they have completely outplayed the Orange army today. What a comeback from MUM! They lost their first 4 games and managed to qualify for the playoffs even then, that too not third or fourth, but second. They will now get two bites at the cherry for a place in the final.
