Zaheer Khan to start for the Delhi.. A slip and a forward short-leg in place.. That's quite attacking..

Welcome back.. Kolkata have won all the four games where they chased, but they haven't chased as big a total as 187. On the other hand, this is a pretty small ground with short boundaries and true bounce.

Especially Billings, playing his maiden T20 League game, lived up to the billing and unfurled some flamboyant shots to help Delhi accelerate at the right time. After Umesh Yadav sent both Karun Nair and last match's hero Chris Morris back in one over, Carlos Brathwaite joined Billings to provide the finishing touches. Delhi would be happy with what they have got, something which looked like a far flung dream after a horrendous start. Stay tuned for the chase.

Kolkata had a dream start with Iyer and de Kock both back into the hutch the first over itself. Before the formalities of the powerplay could be completed, another youngster in the form of Samson had bitten the dust, leaving Delhi reeling at 37/3. But that was it! From there on, Delhi recovered as Karun Nair and Sam Billings steered the ship patiently.

"After the start, it is a good score. Now, for the bowlers to step up and defend the total. We were just speaking of building a partnership. I am happy with the fifty, as long as I am contributing, I am happy. I think we have a good score on the board," says Karun Nair

Rishabh Pant 4(4) Shami 0(1) A Russell 4-0-26-3

19.6 - A Russell to Rishabh Pant, out Rishabh Pant Run Out!! 1 run completed. No worries. Run outs and last balls make for awesome twosomes. Delhi finish well on 186, and so does Russell. Fires this yorker on off-stump, Pant squeezes it out to long-on and runs. Suryakumar Yadav was quick in the deep, spears in the throw and dumps Pant's idea of a brace. Uthappa's under-arm throw onto the stumps ends this innings then. Rishabh Pant run out (Suryakumar Yadav/Uthappa) 4(4)

A Russell to Rishabh Pant, THAT'S OUT!! Run Out!!

19.5 - A Russell to Rishabh Pant, 2 runs, Russell is playing guess-the-pace game. Hurls this bumper at pace, Pant plays the save-your-head pull as he ducked and top-edged it towards long-on. Excellent running means two runs

19.4 - A Russell to Rishabh Pant, no run, fools him. Short ball, slow ball, Pant looks to pull but is ages early. Beaten

19.3 - A Russell to Shami, leg byes, 1 run, Russell misses and Shami is safe! Misses this slower delivery, the ball runs off the pad and Russell runs across to collect, fires the throw but it's wide

Mohammed Shami, right handed bat, comes to the crease

19.2 - A Russell to Brathwaite, out Caught by Narine!! Oh, that's a mishit but that six was pretty enough. Stretches across with his bat knived forward, takes it on the full for a scoop but couldn't usher in the power. Looped to Narine at short fine leg. Brathwaite c Narine b A Russell 34(11) [4s-3 6s-3]

A Russell to Brathwaite, THAT'S OUT!! Caught!!

19.1 - A Russell to Brathwaite, SIX, that's been Stokes'd out of the park. All power. Slower one on a fullish length, Brathwaite backs away and uses his long hands to punish it over deep mid-wicket

Last over and why wouldn't you want Brathwaite on strike now..Eden Gardens' hangovers last long

Brathwaite 28(9) Rishabh Pant 1(1) U Yadav 3-0-33-3

18.6 - U Yadav to Brathwaite, 1 run, yorker turns out to be a low full toss outside off, Brathwaite crouches and dabs it to backward point. Keeps the strike

18.5 - U Yadav to Rishabh Pant, 1 run, bowls it full and slow, Pant uses his own power to crash it to mid-off. Goes straight to the fielder who tries to run Pant out at the bowler's end, but misses. A direct hit could have been interesting

Here's Pant. Expect a big handle and a bigger intent

Rishabh Pant, left handed bat, comes to the crease

18.4 - U Yadav to S Billings, out Bowled!! Here comes the fifty and there goes Billings. Too ambitious trying to scoop it. Went a long way across his stumps, Yadav had this slow ball to dip and hit the bull's eye, as Billings missed. S Billings b U Yadav 54(34) [4s-3 6s-2]

U Yadav to S Billings, THAT'S OUT!! Bowled!!

18.3 - U Yadav to Brathwaite, byes, 1 run, lovely yorker length delivery outside off, Brathwaite swings but it's too full to flirt. But..the keeper fumbles to allow a bye

18.2 - U Yadav to Brathwaite, FOUR, full toss again but dipping outside off, Brathwaite wanted to thrash it through point. Reaches out but drags it off the inside edge wide of the keeper. Through fine leg

18.1 - U Yadav to Brathwaite, SIX, that's from Yadav's binary refrigerator. It's a zero this time. High full toss that's swung over long-on

17.6 - B Hogg to S Billings, SIX, no more an T20 League virgin and now he has a fifty too. On his debut. Hogg slid this googly across, dishes out width and Billings gobbles it up with a lofted drive over deep extra cover.

17.5 - B Hogg to Brathwaite, 1 run, rips this up, bowls it slow and the dip denies Brathwaite the timing on this thrash to long-off

17.4 - B Hogg to Brathwaite, SIX, nothing matters when Brathwaite swings it. Flatter wrong 'un on leg-stump, the turn away gives Brathwaite the room to slog-sweep it over deep mid-wicket

17.3 - B Hogg to Brathwaite, 2 runs, didn't read that at all. The wrong 'un, Brathwaite was shuffling across to tuck it into the leg side, off the toe-end and it balloons over a leaping extra cover

17.2 - B Hogg to S Billings, 1 run, had the room made already, waits for it to dip in front of off and squeezes out a drive to long-off

17.1 - B Hogg to S Billings, 2 runs, turns out to be a dipping full toss, Billings stretches out and sweeps through square leg

16.6 - U Yadav to Brathwaite, FOUR, that's how I slice my morning scoop of butter. Lovely. Gets it full but not much width, opens the bat and uses his wrists to power it down to the third man fence. Wide enough of the keeper to make it a tease

16.5 - U Yadav to Brathwaite, FOUR, sliding on leg-stump and an easy tickle gets a boundary through fine leg

Carlos Brathwaite, right handed bat, comes to the crease

16.4 - U Yadav to C Morris, out Bowled!! How fortunes change. Went berserk the last game and gets a duck today..on his birthday. Well, happy birthday Morris. Charges down the track, Yadav pounds it shortish and Morris looked to cut. Not much bounce to middle the shot, gets the under-edge that shatters the stumps. C Morris b U Yadav 0(2)

16.2 - U Yadav to Nair, out Lbw!! There's the riposte. Hit for a six last ball, Yadav rolls his finger on this length ball, gets it to hold and scissor back in to hit the back leg. Struck in front of leg-stump as Nair looked to adjust with a flick. Might have clipped leg. Nair lbw b U Yadav 68(50) [4s-9 6s-1]

U Yadav to Nair, THAT'S OUT!! Lbw!!

15.5 - Holder to Nair, 2 runs, no rulebook's safe enough. Slows it up on fuller length, shifts his radar seeing Nair back away and the batsman somehow manages to get behind it for a loft to long-on

15.4 - Holder to S Billings, 1 run, reaches across with the biggest of front foot strides, takes it on the up and clubs it through mid-wicket

15.3 - Holder to S Billings, SIX, length ball and it's simple. Get your front leg across, get closer to the pitch of the ball and murder it with a slog-sweep over deep square leg. Easy

15.2 - Holder to Nair, leg byes, 1 run, darts in from a length, Nair misses the clip and runs the leg bye

15.1 - Holder to Nair, no run, okay. Short ball, Nair was looking to pull, hurried onto him and he adjusted well with a high-elbowed flat bat down the ground...only that he mistimed it back down the pitch

14.5 - Narine to Nair, no run, stays back, allows it to bump off the pitch and dead-bats it

14.4 - Narine to Nair, FOUR, skids on straight and you know what, Nair meets it with a reverse sweep through backward point. Wide of the fielder and that's enough

14.4 - Narine to Nair, wide, what was that? That remodelled action isn't anything short of entertainment, let me tell you. Drifts this away but drifts this too much. Swerves across to pitch outside off and it's a wide

14.3 - Narine to Nair, no run, gets Nair to reach out on front foot with this quicker one that turns away. Beaten, you could say

14.2 - Narine to Nair, FOUR, skids on straight this time, Nair shuffles across to get inside the line and pipes the sweep finer this time. Behind square and it runs away

14.1 - Narine to Nair, FOUR, that's a brutal sweep. Wow. Sees the length, gets into a position and powers it round the corner. That's his fifty too!

13.4 - Holder to S Billings, no run, pounds this on back of a length, Billings goes for the cut shot but the extra bounce beats him this time. Something different with this Kotla pitch today. Are South Africa seeing?

13.3 - Holder to Nair, 1 run, cramped for room by this back of a length delivery that darts back in, Nair greets with an open bat and bunts it to third man

13.2 - Holder to Nair, no run, goes full outside off and invites Nair forward with a push to cover

Brathwaite: "Bit pleased. In the hindsight, could have used 3-4 more balls in the end and taken the score to 190-195. First significant contribution in the T20 League, so happy. The back room staff was very sure of backing our process, our plans and that is how we prepare. Tough luck to Imran on missing out today. They keep everyone happy behind the scenes. I was losing it a bit mentally and hence went out of the field to get it right (referring to the 14 runs he conceded off one ball)."

Carlos Brathwaite is the Man of the Match

Zaheer: "We have faith in our batters. We speak about freedom to express. We are still playing good cricket despite not getting good starts. As long as we get to par score, it is fine. Sam Billings and Karun got us in a winning position. Bowling in the first six was important and that is why me and Shami bowled three each. It was our plan to create pressure at the start. It was a little sticky with the new ball. The wicket gets better in the second innings. It was a brilliant catch and we needed that wicket (referring to Mishra's catch)."

Gambhir: "We didn't expect they would get 186 after the first over. We thought they would end up with 150-160. Credit goes to them, with the way Karun Nair and Sam Billings batted. 160 was a par score, 187 is tough on any wicket. We need to be more professional with bat, ball and in the field as well. If it is a good wicket, then it is difficult to contain. You have to get wickets at every point of time. That is why we picked Hoggy and Sunil, but Nair and Billings laid the platform for the final overs. We ended up giving 15 runs more. Everyone has to deliver, if you have to win a tournament, everybody needs to contribute. We haven't played smart cricket in the last two games. The next game is very important for us and hopefully we do well, which is the last one for us away from home as we are playing 4-5 games at home after that."

Of course, they were chasing a big target and did not get the kind of start they have become used to this season. But throughout the innings, they appeared to be moving stealthily towards the target, led by a prowling Robin Uthappa. They were in it as long as Russell was there. Once he departed, courtesy an evasive catch taken by Mishra off his own bowling, it was too tasking for Uthappa and the tail to hound it down.

There is something with Kolkata and Brathwaite. Barely a month ago, he owned the English at the Eden Gardens. Today - at his second home Delhi - he robbed the Knights from Kolkata to displace them from the second spot in the points table. Delhi were brilliant with the bat, relentless with the ball and electric in the field. But Delhi's brilliance was not a result of Kolkata's mediocrity, they too had their fare share of 'moments' in the match.

18.3 - Zaheer to U Yadav, out Caught by C Morris!! All over. Delhi have comeback to win the game by 27 runs. After being annihilated in the reverse fixture, this is a strong showing by the Zaheer Khan-led side. Billings and Samson hug each other. Erasmus doesn't even bother to go upstairs and Delhi are one wicket away. Slower delivery, Yadav gave it his all, but he got it off toe-end towards long-off. The pair was always coming back for the second. Iyer swooped in on the ball and hit timber at the bowler's end. Superb fielding effort. Narine run out (Shreyas Iyer) 4(3)

Is brave enough to give the ball a bit of air, Russell takes couple of steps down and smashes the ball, scratch that, murders the ball back to the bowler. Mishra was trying to get out of the way, he got his hands up to protect his face and the ball just stuck. He couldn't believe it as he threw the ball trying to run Russell out.
