Welcome back.. Nehra will open the bowling for Chennai.. Two slips in place

Mishra: "We are very happy to restrict them to 150. It's very important to bowl well in the middle overs. We tried to bowl as many dot balls as possible and we are very happy with our performance. The wicket is on the slower side but it is still good for batting. I think we have the batters to chase this down."

MS Dhoni looked to up the ante in the end overs. However, Dhoni struggled for timing and placement before launching Coulter-Nile for a couple of amazing sixes in the final over. The Delhi camp would be pleased with the way their bowlers stepped up to pull the batting side back after Smith and du Plessis had threatened to take Chennai to a massive score. The fielding too was sharp. The track is on the slower side, but Delhi's batsmen should back themselves to chase down this target.

Despite vital contributions from Dwayne Smith and Faf du Plessis, Chennai ended up with a below par total. Delhi started well as Nathan Coulter-Nile took the key wickets of Brendon McCullum and Suresh Raina. Imran Tahir made his presence felt by bowling parsimoniously and was rewarded with the scalp of Smith. Amit Mishra backed up Tahir with a fine spell.

Mohit Sharma, right handed bat, comes to the crease

19.5 - Coulter-Nile to Dhoni, out Caught by M Agarwal!! Short ball from round the wicket. Dhoni tries to pull, plays more of a tennis smash, the ball goes off the bottom of the bat and goes high up in the air, mid-off settles under it and takes it cleanly. 19.3 - Coulter-Nile to Dhoni, SIX, this is a ridiculous shot from MSD. Short of a length delivery outside off stump, Dhoni was trying to pull, but he ends up slicing it, he wasn't in control but it sailed all the way over backward point. Remember the shot Maxwell hit in the World Cup against Pakistan?

Third man is in. In fact, all four on the off-side are inside the ring

19.1 - Coulter-Nile to Dhoni, 1 run, Dhoni swings hard but only hits it on the bounce to long-on. He wanted to go over mid-wicket, but he hit it very straight

Short of a length delivery on the stumps, probably the ball kept a bit low, Bravo jumped and tries to flick, missed and got hit above the knee roll, but the lack of bounce meant it was crashing into middle and leg. Ashish Nehra is the Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling spell

Dhoni: 'I think you have to hold onto your nerves, that's what is important. The last ball was not in the slot and Bravo probably didn't like it himself. We were probabloy 10-15 runs short. He is good. At times he gets injured, but he bowls well. It's good to see him the way he bowls, he has been with us for the last couple of seasons. He is one of the few Indian bowlers who bowl effortlessly at decent pace. It was an important win as we had not played here for a long time. The fans come here and support, they want us to win but they still support the other team as well if they play good shots.'

Duminy: 'It's unbelievable. It's a game of small margin, but I am proud of the boys. We will take a lot of learning out of this game. We didn't have big partnerships but still got close. One or two balls more and we would have won it. The gameplan was to try and take wickets, we knew they will come out hard against us. All credit to the spinners for pulling things back in the middle. I am feeling good. Obviously, we would have liked to win today, but it's just the first game. We will take a lot of heart from this game. The turning point was that we didn't have any partnerships and that's why getting that close was a valiant effort.'

For Chennai, Ashish Nehra in particular, bowled with good control and took three wickets to give them the upper hand. Ravichandran Ashwin too bowled well. Delhi, who had a forgettable time last season, would rue the fact that their batsmen couldn't back up the excellent effort of their bowlers. The likes of Nathan Coulter-Nile and Imran Tahir had certainly given the visitors genuine hopes of winning the game by bowling superb spells. Unfortunately from their perspective, Delhi couldn't cross the finish line. On the other hand, Faf du Plessis, Dwayne Smith and MS Dhoni played useful hands for the home team.

Despite Albie Morkel playing with self-belief and determination, Delhi hurtled towards a gut-wrenching defeat. In a cliffhanger, Delhi lost wickets at regular intervals and that in the end, cost them the match. It was Morkel, who looked to guide them to victory. In the final over, he thumped Dwayne Bravo for one six and two fours, but they lost by a single run. Morkel also struggled to cope up with the hot and humid conditions.

Bravo blows a flying kiss towards the sky, but more than that he will be relieved man. What a thriller we have witnessed today! Raina's stop off the penultimate ball really made the difference. He saved 2 runs prior to that and had that ball gone for a boundary, Delhi would have ended on the winning side. Morkel must really be disappointed, he was not getting his timing right in the middle overs. He got his touch back in the last over, but it turned out to be a little too late for his team's cause.

19.6 - Dwayne Bravo to A Morkel, FOUR, ohh dear! Morkel hits a boundary, but the Delhi lose by a solitary run. Dhoni applauds the effort, but he knows the pain of the batsman as well. CHN win their first game and DEL will be very disappointed with this. Coming back to the ball, it was full and just outside off, Morkel lofts the drive inside-out over extra-cover but the ball bounces just before the rope

6 needed off the last ball. Nehra and Dhoni have a chat about the field. Dhoni is marshalling his troops around. Bravo also has something to say to his captain. There are 4 in on the off-side, with a long-off in place.

19.5 - Dwayne Bravo to A Morkel, 2 runs, short and wide outside off, Morkel cuts it over point and Raina did extremely well to run to his right from sweeper cover, puts in the dive and saves 2 runs for his team. That was exceptional from Raina as the ball was spinning away from him, but he got his body behind it

19.4 - Dwayne Bravo to A Morkel, SIX, finally Morkel hits one out of the park! It was a back of a length delivery angling away outside off, Morkel waits for it, clears the front leg and hammers it over the cow corner fence. First clean strike from Morkel in this innings

18.5 - Nehra to A Morkel, 1 run, a direct-hit and Morkel would have been a goner! It was full and right in the slot, but Morkel can only drill it towards mid-off and sets off for the single. Dhoni underhands the ball to Nehra and Nehra runs back and disturbs the stumps at the non-striker's end with another underhand throw. It was also called a wide. Mishra run out (Dhoni/Nehra) 4(4)
