Welcome back. South Africa will start with pace. Abbott with a slip in place
South Africa end on 148. I said that 140 was a good score on this earlier, I stick by that. Credit to du Plessis for sticking out there in the middle and playing percentage cricket after the early dismissals of AB and QDK. He played the ball on merit and quickly gauged that the wicket was on the slower side. Duminy and Rossouw made handy contributions to give their side a total to bowl at. The bowling was quite good with Mustafizur shining once more. Can Bangladesh chase this down? The crowd will be behind them. We will be back shortly for the run chase

18.5 -

Must say I quite like the new South African jersey which they are sporting. Not too bright and the right shade of yellow. The fonts and the numbering on the back look classy. The green stripes on the front aren't too prominent and top marks for the work that has gone into making the jersey

Just the two overs into the game and already this is looking like a trial by spin for the Proteas. The pitch is slow and won't be surprised if Mash decides to bowl a majority of his overs with the spinners in action. 140 could be a good score provided South Africa use the slowness of the wicket

On that note we end proceedings of this first T20I. The second one is on the 7th. At the same venue. There is a gripping Test match going on between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Switch tabs to follow that. Until next time it is goodbye from all of us here. Do remember to enjoy whatever is left of Sunday and also to sleep tight. Ciao folks!
Faf is the Man of the Match as well for his innings of 79. He collects a cheque, beaming as he poses for the photos
Faf: 'Wicket was a tough wicket, their spinners were bowling well and it was bouncing. Once we got through the initial period then we did well. While bowling we learnt our lessons from our batting. The old man (referring to JP Duminy) bowled really well today. It is good to have someone like JP who can chip in with the ball as well. Don't be fooled, when the sun is not shining it is still pretty humid. I lost two kgs today. It is nice to start the series on a winning note. It is a wicket where you had to graft hard and it is a knock that one would like to play. We have got so many match-winners, AB among them but on any day anyone can win it for us. The partnership (his with Rossouw) won it for us.'
Mashrafe: 'We could've restricted them to 130-135 which would've been good for the batters. The bowlers did well but we didn't get any partnerships while batting. I think Arafat and Nasir bowled well - all bowled well actually. Batters played too many shots but we can fix it - no worries. Hopefully in the next game we will rectify our mistakes.'
Wiese came back to dismiss Shakib and that extinguished any hopes of an improbable win. Eventually South Africa won by 52 runs which is a huge margin in T20Is. A professional and clinical performance from the Proteas who have shown no signs of any ring rust in their first game after the World Cup. Do stay tuned for the presentation ceremony
An easy win for South Africa. Bangladesh have been brought back to earth - at least momentarily. On a wicket that aided the spinners, South Africa batted sensibly and posted a total that gave their bowlers a total to bowl at. Once the Bangladeshi openers were dismissed the task became easy. Rahim holed out and then the spinners suddenly buzzed. Duminy and Phangiso made the ball talk. Shakib was fighting a lone battle but as the asking rate climbed he was left with a huge task.
18.5 -
Parnell to Mustafizur Rahman, out Bowled!! Parnell yorks Mustafizur Rahman and that is game over. Saw the batsman charging and fired in a yorker, hits off as the batsman made too much room.
