Rahane, for the second time in Test matches, got out in the nineties. He played some lovely looking strokes during his 103-ball 98. A result from this stage looks very grim and the forecast isn't looking great either. It wouldn't be a surprise if Kohli opts for an overnight declaration. Day 4: Good morning and a very hearty welcome to the penultimate day's coverage of the only Test between Bangladesh and India. After rain prevented the proceedings on day 2, India employed an aggressive approach on day 3 by scoring runs at a rapid pace. Only 285 balls were bowled on day 3 with the last session being washed off without a ball being bowled. Openers Dhawan and Vijay pushed the opening stand to 283/0 before Dhawan threw his wicket away in quest of quick runs. Rohit and Saha failed to capitalize on a great opportunity while the Indian skipper failed to pick a wrong 'un from the 19-year old leggie Jubair Hossain.

Just 47.3 overs for the day. India moved the match forward, reaching 462/6. Dhawan made 173, Vijay stroked his way to a sublime 150 but the innings of the day came from Ajinkya Rahane, who chipped in with a 103-ball 98. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed, as did Wriddhiman Saha. Will India declare overnight? We have already lost close to two full days of cricket. The onus is on India to move this match forward. A profitable session for India, despite losing three wickets. Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay continued untroubled first-up in the morning, taking their partnership to 283. The former looked set to score his maiden double ton, but was done in by Shakib, after a fine 173. That started a mini collapse. Rohit Sharma failed to justify the decision of the selectors to pick him ahead of Cheteshwar Pujara. He was castled by Shakib for just 6. Virat Kohli also suffered a rare failure, bowled by the impressive Jubair Hossain for 14.

And that will be lunch on day 3. It has gotten slightly dark and a cover has been placed on the pitch as a precautionary measure.

An alarming fact is that this is the very first time that a Test match is being played in Bangladesh in the month of June. Good morning folks! It rained, rained and rained on day 2 such that not even a single ball was bowled. India finished the rain-marred first day at 239/0 with both openers looking in sublime touch. No play was possible on day 2 due to persistent rain and wet outfield. It seems like both teams might well have to settle with a draw by the end of day 5 as a result from the current state of the Test match looks highly unlikely. Adding to that heavy rain is predicted for the remainder of the Test match.

Murali Vijay played a supporting role and is just 11 runs away from his 6th Test ton. Bangladesh paid the price heavily for picking only one seamer and the spinners weren't effective too. The weather in Fatullah isn't looking promising for the next two days and Virat Kohli would surely employ an even more aggressive approach from now on. India are all set to post a mammoth first innings total. The only way to restrict the heavy Indian batting line-up is to pick wickets. Hello and a very warm welcome to the second day's coverage of the only Test between Bangladesh and India. Virat Kohli would be a happy man after the end of day 1 as India went onto post a record opening stand and are yet to lose a wicket. On a rain-curtailed day, where the game progressed with the assistance of floodlights, Dhawan-Vijay made the best use of conditions as they went onto score 239 in just 56 overs.

Vijay then survived a close LBW shout at the fag end of the day, only to be saved by an inside edge. Dhawan marched on and reached 150 just before the umpires decided to call stumps because of the fading light. Bangladesh tried seven bowlers during the course of the day but none of them were able to achieve a breakthrough. Although the odd one is turning and bouncing, the pitch is absolutely flat and the batsmen would enjoy batting on this surface on Day 2.

It rained, rained and rained and after almost four hours, play resumed with about 38 overs remaining in the day. The story was no different for Bangladesh even after the break as both the Indian openers batted freely. Vijay upped the ante and recorded his 11th Test fifty and Dhawan soon brought up his third Test match hundred. It was the first hundred for the left-handed batsman in 15 innings. The duo stretched their partnership past 200 and in the process recorded India's highest ever opening stand against Bangladesh in Tests.

239/0 in 56 overs after opting to bat first, India will take that with both hands. The fact that they scored at 4.27 runs per over explains their dominance. The pitch had hardly anything in it for the bowlers and both Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay were able to score at will. The latter though survived a very close LBW shout in the second over of the day even before opening his account. However, as the morning progressed, the duo were able to find the gaps and Dhawan in particular, was severe on the bowlers. He raced to fifty off 47 balls, but had a nervy moment soon after as Shuvagata Hom dropped him just before the skies opened up.

The umpires have decided that the current light is not sufficient for play to continue and it's stumps on day 1. Dhawan and Vijay walk off after punching gloves with each other. A few Bangladeshi players walk up to Dhawan and congratulate him for his achievement.

Dhawan continued to bat in a positive fashion and recorded his 3rd Test fifty off 47 balls, while Vijay played second fiddle to him. Bangladesh could have seen the back of Dhawan, but Shuvagata Hom dropped him at short mid-wicket just before rain stopped play. Both batsmen have hardly been troubled and the hosts need to put up a spirited show in the field when they come out after the rain break.

So a fruitful beginning to the Test match for India. Their captain, Virat Kohli, called the right side of the coin and had no hesitation in opting to bat first on a flat wicket. Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay played cautiously at the start, before the former upped the ante after getting his eye in. Vijay though got a reprieve early in the innings as he survived a close lbw call on 0 off Soumya Sarkar. The Bangladeshi bowlers, however, could not stem the run flow and soon lost the plot as they bowled freebies.

So, India made light work of the tail. They needed less than 10 overs to pick up the last 3 wickets. Kohli was also seen telling the umpires that India would bowl again, which means that the follow-on has been enforced. Ashwin sent back the well set Das and picked up his 5th wicket, it was his 10th 5-wicket haul in Tests. Harbhajan then sent back Shahid, who was looking to hit every ball out of the park. Bangladesh needed 17 runs with one wicket left, but a misunderstanding between Taijul and Jubair saw them fall short.

It has been an excellent session for India. They have managed to pick up 4 wickets and give themselves an outside chance to win the game. Shakib didn't last long as he fell in the third over of the day. Kayes continues to motor along and was well supported by Soumya Sarkar. However, both batsmen departed in successive overs. Harbhajan Singh, the comeback man, hardly got any turn as he kept attacking the stumps rather than aiming for outside the off-stump line. However, Mominul gifted his wicket to Harbhajan going for a needless shot. It required 2 years, 3 months and 11 days for the turbanator to claim his 414th wicket in Test match cricket. The only highlight on day 4 was Tamim Iqbal going past Habibul Bashar to become the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh in Tests. Even if the weather decides to take a break, which is unlikely to happen, a draw seems inevitable at the moment. Let's hope for an engrossing final day's play. Don't go away. The clock is ticking and we are just minutes away from the kick-off of day 5 proceedings.

Day 5: It has been a frustrating Test match so far as rain has dictated the terms throughout. Something really magical has to take place for an outcome to happen in this game. Only 30.1 overs of play was possible on day 4 with rain making an appearance for a prolonged period. Post lunch and post tea proceedings were abandoned without a ball being bowled. Virat, with a ray of hope, declared overnight hoping to bowl out the Bangladeshi batsmen on a pitch which assisted the spin bowlers. Ashwin was brilliant with the ball as he extracted good turn and bounce which eventually got him the wickets of Tamim and Rahim. Both batsmen were undone by the dip and turn of a classical off-spinner from the Chennai lad.

So we have had four days and only 133 overs of play so far. Tells us all about the weather and its heroics. The umpires made their inspection but it was never going to happen - play that is. Nothing much has happened from his end, although Mominul gifted his wicket away with a daft shot. Tamim and Mushfiqur were Ashwin's victims - both done in by turn and bounce. There was nothing in it for the pacers and Imrul Kayes rode his luck to compile an attacking fifty. Play was suspended minutes before lunch - but if the overhead conditions don't improve - we might have seen the last bit of action for the day.
