The highest run scorer for Sri Lanka in 2016 Dinesh Chandimal, has been left out and is not included in the squad for the first two ODIs at Galle against Zimbabwe. 

Chandimal has not had a great Champions Trophy. He had made scores of 12 and 0 in the Champions Trophy.

Dhananjaya de Silva, Suranga Lakmal, Thisara Perera, Kusal Perera, Chamara Kapugedera, Seekkuge Prasanna and Nuwan Kulasekara are the other 7 players from the Champions Trophy squad who have been left out. 

The Selector of Sri Lanka Cricket believe that it's time to try the youngsters out. 

Sri Lanka's cricket manager Asanka Gurusinha said, 

“

This squad is only the first two games. We haven’t selected the side for the rest of the series. We wanted to try out a few younger guys and he (Chandimal) is very much in our plans for the remaining games. We are looking at different combinations and that's one of the reasons why we have selected this team to play in Galle.

”

Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will play five ODIs and one Test.

Angelo Mathews, Upul Tharanga, Niroshan Dickwella, Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis, Asela Gunaratne, Wanidu Hasarnga, Lahiru Madushanka, Lakshan Sandakan, Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Pradeep and Dushmantha Chameera.
