AB de Villiers steps down from ODI Captaincy

AB de Villiers has stepped down from ODI captaincy and has made himself available to play Tests again, starting October 2017.

De Villiers last played Tests in January 2016, after which he was sidelined due to injury.

He then made himself unavailable for Tests afterwards, setting off rumors of retirement from Tests.

But his recent announcement states that he will be available to play in all formats.

He said,

Faf du Plessis has proved to be an outstanding captain of the T20 and Test teams, and bearing this in mind, I have informed Cricket South Africa that I would like to step down as captain of the ODI team.

De Villiers will not play in the series against Bangladesh in September. This means he will feature directly in the Boxing Day Test.
