375/10 (117.4) RR:3.19

112/10 (49.5) RR:2.25

47.4 - Ashwin to Herath, FOUR, swept, not fully in control though as it went uppishly through square leg. Ishant was in the deep but it went well wide of him to his right

47.3 - Ashwin to Herath, FOUR, another sweep shot from Herath and it gives him four more. Flighted delivery on the stumps, Herath sends it through mid-wicket this time

46.5 - Mishra to Herath, FOUR, Mishra goes very full this time, Herath waits for it to come and drives it along the ground through cover

46.3 - Mishra to Herath, FOUR, friendly full toss from Mishra, he lost control of the ball, Herath swept it all along the ground through square leg, Ashwin runs to his right in the deep and goes leg-first with his slide but his back leg was in contact with the rope as he ball hit his right boot. Wonder why such a long look at this

43.0 - Aaron to Chandimal, FOUR, four more! 4th boundary of the over. Short and wide outside off stump, Chandimal cuts hard, sends it to the left of backward point

42.5 - Aaron to Chandimal, FOUR, 8th Test fifty for Chandimal and this is a handy knock for Sri Lanka. Full and outside off stump, Chandimal frees his arms and drives over cover for four. Chandimal gets a good round of applause from the crowd

42.3 - Aaron to Chandimal, FOUR, in the airrr and just over Dhawan at deep mid-wicket. Dhawan was standing well inside, had he been right back, it would have gone straight to him. Short delivery on the off stump, Chandimal pulls but doesn't bother to keep it down, luckily for him he made just enough contact to evade Dhawan's jump

42.2 - Aaron to Chandimal, FOUR, poor ball from Aaron. Way outside off stump once again, Chandimal waits on the back foot and cuts it to the left of backward point, there was a man at sweeper but he had no chance

40.5 - Aaron to Mathews, FOUR, edgedddd but safe! Why a fly slip Virat Kohli? Aaron drops his head in disappointment. Nothing but a length ball wide outside off stump, Mathews slashes hard at it and gets a thick edge, Rohit, who was standing at a conventional second slip position dived full length to his right but still couldn't get a fingertip to it. Mathews wears a big smile on his face

40.4 - Aaron to Mathews, FOUR, fine hit from Mathews. Just moved across the stumps to get into a good position to tickle, Aaron bowled it in the short of length region, the line was leg stumpish and Mathews helped himself to a boundary

38.5 - Aaron to Chandimal, FOUR, now he cuts and sends it in the gap between backward point and gully. Width on offer from Aaron, the length isn't all that short, but Chandimal bends his knees and makes good contact

34.2 - Ishant to Chandimal, FOUR, Chandimal this time around takes on the short delivery and earns himself another boundary, it didn't hurry onto the batsman and Chandimal had all the time to pick his spot, swivels and pulls it over square leg

30.3 - Ashwin to Chandimal, FOUR, another sweep from Chandimal and another boundary. That gets the crowd going as well. Flighted on off-stump, Chandimal gets inside the line, sweeps it fine and beats Bhajji at deep backward square, who didn't bother to put in the dive

28.5 - Ashwin to Chandimal, FOUR, Chandimal played the sweep early on in his innings, once again it is the most productive shot for him against Ashwin. Flighted around off, he kneels down and sweeps it square of the wicket to collect four

27.0 - Ishant to Mathews, FOUR, not very convincing, but effective. Banged in halfway down the wicket, Mathews was into position to play the pull, gets it off the meat and to the right of mid-off, he got enough wood for the ball to reach the fence

26.2 - Ishant to Mathews, FOUR, lovely shot! Those strong wrists of Mathews coming into play. Fullish and on off, Mathews leans forward and flicks it past the diving mid-on fielder, the timing was excellent as the ball raced away

21.5 - Ashwin to Chandimal, FOUR, Chandimal uses the smart option and gets four to get off the mark. It was flighted outside off, Chandimal knew that there was no-one in the deep, took it on and executed the sweep over the man at backward square leg for four. It was in the air but never near the vicinity of the fielder

16.5 - Aaron to Thirimanne, FOUR, that is the shot of the day so far. Aaron helped Thirimanne with a half-volley but Thirimanne still had to find the gap and did that with a textbook cover drive. On a bent knee and caressed through cover. A photographer's delight as Thirimanne held the pose after playing it. High elbow and all that jazz too

16.1 - Aaron to Mathews, FOUR, short outside off and Mathews is in position early to pull through mid-wicket. Sat up to be hit and Mathews did just that

14.0 - Ashwin to Mathews, FOUR, lots of air on that and Mathews takes the aerial route. Lofts it with the turn and into the vast acres of space near deep mid-wicket, one bounce over the ropes. Hit well and that should release some pressure

10.4 - Ishant to Thirimanne, FOUR, Thirimanne gets lucky! Just wide of the leaping Jinks at gully. The outside edge was produced on the drive as Ishant induced the false stroke. It went at a catchable height and to the right of Jinks, he went full-length and stretching his arms to try and catch it, but didn't even get a fingertip to it. No third man and it will be a boundary

3.3 - Aaron to Kaushal Silva, FOUR, even the slow outfield can't stop that. Short outside off, Kaushal Silva is a short man but he rose high and slapped that wide of gully. Got on top of the bounce and put it away

37.1 - Harbhajan to Mathews, SIX, nice clean strike! And that is fifty for Mathews. The crowd are up on their feet. The skipper raises his bat, hugs his partner and gets on with things. Flighted delivery, Mathews shimmies down the track, gets to the pitch and lofts it handsomely over long-on for a maximum

49.4 - Ashwin to Herath, out Bowled!! Ashwin signs off in style, finishes with six wickets in the innings. Flighted delivery on the off stump, Herath goes for the slog-sweep, but misses it completely and the ball shatters the stumps. That will be tea as well. Herath b Ashwin 23(24) [4s-4]

48.2 - Mishra to Kaushal, out Caught by Rohit!! Two-in-two for Mishy. Wow, how quickly fortunes can change! Googly on the stumps, Kaushal leans forward to defend, gets an inside edge that lobs to short leg off the pad. Sri Lanka are nine down for 179. Kaushal c Rohit b Mishra 0(1)

48.1 - Mishra to Chandimal, out Caught by Rahane!! Strange dismissal, but Mishy won't mind as it finally puts him in the wickets column. Mishra's foot was well in and it was pretty needless from the on-field umpire to check it again. Flighted delivery spinning across the right-hander, it pitched outside leg and turned a long way, Chandimal advanced and went for the loft, but the ball took a thick outside edge and went straight to the man at slip, who was pretty square. A fighting innings comes to an end. Chandimal c Rahane b Mishra 59(77) [4s-9]

43.3 - Ashwin to Dhammika, out Lbw!! It's a fifer for Ashwin, his 11th in Test match cricket. Umpire Nigel Llong raised his finger in a flash, that was absolutely plumb. Flatter delivery on the stumps, Dhammika stays back when he should have been forward, tries to defend but misses, the ball spins back in and hits him right in front of middle stump. Dhammika lbw b Ashwin 0(6)

41.3 - Ashwin to Mathews, out Caught by Rohit!! That is a brilliant grab by Rohit at short leg. End of a fine innings from Mathews. Flighted delivery on the off stump, Mathews jumps out his crease in an attempt to flick, gets a thickish edge that lobs off the pad, it went quickly to Rohit, who tried to grab it above his head after arching back a bit. The ball popped out but Rohit recovered in time to dive forward and take the rebound with his right hand. Rohit was going back initially but he adjusted really well to move forward to complete the catch. Mathews c Rohit b Ashwin 64(92) [4s-6 6s-1]

21.3 - Ashwin to Mubarak, out Caught by Rahul!! And Kohli is a genius. Mubarak is out caught at short leg. He had moved the fielder just before the ball was bowled to exactly the same position where the catch is taken. Drifted in towards middle and leg, Mubarak came forward to defend, a thick inside edge onto pad and a dolly to KL. He took a stunner earlier, this was a simple catch. Five down and Ashwin is running riot against the left-handers. Mubarak c Rahul b Ashwin 0(7)

19.4 - Ashwin to Thirimanne, out Caught by Rahane!! That's the delivery. Caught at first slip. Tossed up outside off, Thirimanne stretched forward to defend, but didn't get right forward, the ball dipped on him and turned away to take the outside edge. Low grab at slip. Rahane making it look so easy. After taking it, he flicks the ball away nonchalantly. Fourth wicket down and lovely bowling from Ashwin. He set Thirimanne up for this very dismissal and has nailed him. Thirimanne c Rahane b Ashwin 13(38) [4s-2]

11.3 - Ashwin to Sangakkara, out Caught by Rahul!! Superb catch at silly point. A reflex effort by KL to his left. That is a fine take. Sangakkara went for the back foot punch, got it off the toe end. Rahul was ball-watching, didn't get up, had the weight down and plucked it off two-handed. Anticipation and looking at the ball the key to that catch. The crowd at Galle are stunned. Even Sangakkara is and drags himself off the square. Replays show that KL hung on as the ball settled at the edge of his fingers. Used his left-hand to then cup the ball. Sangakkara c Rahul b Ashwin 5(12)

7.1 - Aaron to Kaushal Silva, out Caught by Dhawan!! Dhawan has made amends at first slip. It is a brilliant catch. Another short delivery gets a batsman out. It is down leg, Kaushal Silva wanted to pull, it went off the glove and then the back of the bat, was going over Rohit's head at 2nd slip, but Dhawan had already anticipated the catch and moved to his right to dive and take it with both hands. Kaushal Silva wasn't happy with the decision - he shook his head as he walked off. There is no DRS in this series remember. To the naked eye looked a clear deflection. Well, well replays show that it may have gone off the armguard. Yes it has and must say Kaushal Silva is unlucky. Kaushal Silva c Dhawan b Aaron 5(24) [4s-1]

6.5 - Ishant to D Karunaratne, out Caught by Rahane!! Gone. Caught at gully. That is a fine short delivery and it has taken out Karunaratne. Right at the chest of Karunaratne, he hopped to defend and it went off the shoulder of the bat, almost hit the handle but a dolly to gully. Ishant surprised Karunaratne with a short ball earlier in the over, that wasn't in the right area, this one was and Karunaratne had no clue. Looked very awkward in trying to deal with it and perished. The round the wicket angle also helping Ishant to cramp Karunaratne up. D Karunaratne c Rahane b Ishant 9(19)

24.2 - Ishant to Chandimal, no run, dropped! Straight in and straight out. Would you believe it? Saha with gloves on is the culprit. Ishant is not pleased with the effort. It was the sucker delivery, full and inviting the batsman to drive, Chandimal obliges and goes hard, the outside edge carries at a nice height, not sure how Saha grassed it. How much would that cost India?

3.4 - Aaron to Kaushal Silva, 1 run, dropped by Dhawan at first slip. Kaushal Silva went for another cut and edged it, it went at a comfortable height to the right of Dhawan who shelled it. It may have moved a little but you expect that to be taken at this level. England caught everything on day 1 at TB to bowl Australia out for 60. Here Dhawan has dropped an easy chance. Will Kaushal Silva make India pay for that lapse?

35.3 - Harbhajan to Chandimal, 1 run, direct hit and it would have been curtains for Chandimal. He was not even in the picture. Tossed up on off, Chandimal wrists it to mid-on and sets off, he had hit that straight to Dhawan, who had all three stumps to aim and missed. He has his hands on his head, that is an opportunity missed for India

115.0 - Pradeep to Aaron, FOUR, wow! A lovely front foot cover-drive, shot of a top-order batsman and Aaron wears a big smile on his face as he walks towards Ishant to punch his gloves. Full and in the slot, Aaron drives along the ground and opens his account in style

108.5 - Pradeep to W Saha, FOUR, fine shot to bring up his maiden Test fifty. Rahane and Kohli are all smiles as they stand and applaud from the dressing room. Saha shows the thumbs up to acknowledge the applause. Shortish from Pradeep, Saha swivels on the pull and times it sweetly, the ball flies over mid-wicket

107.5 - Kaushal to W Saha, FOUR, finally, Saha swings his bat. Flighted delivery on the stumps, Saha sends it over mid-wicket, not from the middle of the bat but he'll take it. There was no one in the deep to prevent the boundary. With that four Saha is just a hit away from registering his first fifty in Tests

100.5 - Herath to Mishra, FOUR, flighted delivery just outside off stump, Mishra uses his feet, gets close to the pitch of the ball and lofts it back over the bowler's head and well wide of mid-off

97.1 - Kaushal to W Saha, FOUR, lovely shot, Kaushal gave this one plenty of air and a bit too wide outside off, Saha gets to the pitch of the ball and laces the cover drive, no need to run for those

96.3 - Herath to Harbhajan, FOUR, the slog sweep from Harbhajan, fetches it from well outside off, gets enough bat on the shot, the man in the deep is very fine, no one at mid-wicket and the ball races away to the fence

91.4 - Pradeep to Harbhajan, FOUR, cracking shot, overpitched and well outside off, Harbhajan leans forward, presents the full face of the bat and pushes it through extra cover. The timing is sweet and the ball races away to the fence

89.4 - Pradeep to Ashwin, FOUR, short and outside off, Ashwin threw his bat at that, the outside edge flew over the slip cordon. No one at third man and that brings up the 300 for India

87.0 - Dhammika to Dhawan, FOUR, half volley on the pads and Dhawan cashes in, he leans forward and flicks it beautifully square on the leg-side, the new ball raced away to the fence

82.0 - Kaushal to W Saha, FOUR, there comes the boundary ball for the over, overpitched outside off, Saha drives it in the vast vacant areas on the off-side, it was a teaser for Herath who gave chase from cover, the ball had enough to trickle away

80.0 - Kaushal to W Saha, FOUR, all the pressure that was built has been let go. Kaushal offers a freebie off the last ball, full toss on off and middle, Saha doesn't do anything fancy, drives it to the left of mid-on, Sanga gave up on the chase

77.2 - Kaushal to W Saha, FOUR, another full toss and Saha is onto it, he missed out in the previous over but not this time, places the drive between extra cover and mid-off to open his account

73.2 - Kaushal to Kohli, FOUR, 11th Test hundred for Kohli, the dressing room is up in cheers, so does the partisan crowd in Galle. This was a gift from Kaushal, Full toss and well outside off, Kohli gets a big stride forward and drills it to cover where there is a fumble, the ball races away to the fence in a hurry. His 5th hundred in the last 6 Tests

71.1 - Kaushal to Dhawan, no ball, FOUR, lovely shot, this was tossed up and on the stumps, Dhawan closes the face of the bat and punches it to the right of mid-on, first boundary for Dhawan after lunch. Kaushal had overstepped as well

70.1 - Pradeep to Kohli, FOUR, that's easy pickings for Kohli, this was banged in short and on his hips, he gets inside the line and helps it along very fine, the man in the deep is very square, one hit away from yet another overseas Test hundred

61.0 - Pradeep to Dhawan, FOUR, full and angled in towards the stumps, Dhawan flicks through square leg and beats the man from deep backward square leg running across, he put in the dive but the ball had too much pace on it

59.5 - Kaushal to Kohli, FOUR, fabulous drive. Kohli special. Very full outside off, Kohli drilled that with a strong bottom hand. Raced away past the diving short cover, the fielder went to his left but didn't stop it. Hit with too much power

57.0 - Dhammika to Dhawan, FOUR, 100 for Dhawan. And he is all smiles. Out comes the trademark Dhawan celebration. Arms stretched wide and with a broad smile to accompany it. He got there with a front foot drive, beat both short cover and the diving extra cover. The ball runs away to the fence. Consecutive hundreds for Dhawan in Tests

52.5 - Kaushal to Kohli, FOUR, that's a cracking shot. Well tossed up outside off, no cover and Kohli had to hit it and he did just that. Hammering it through cover. Raced away

52.3 - Kaushal to Dhawan, FOUR, that's risky but Dhawan has got it away. On the stumps, Dhawan bottom-edges the sweep and beats Herath running across from deep backward square, the ball rolls away into the ropes. The partnership is now over 150

48.2 - Kaushal to Dhawan, FOUR, poor ball, down leg, easy for Dhawan as he sweeps it to fine leg, there is no-one there and it raced away

46.1 - Pradeep to Dhawan, FOUR, overpitched outside off and Dhawan leans into the square drive. Bent his front leg and stroked it wide of backward point. Raced away. First boundary of the day

30.4 - Pradeep to Kohli, FOUR, excellent on-drive. Full and just outside off stump, Kohli doesn't try to over-hit the ball, just rolls his wrists over it to keep it along the ground, it runs away through mid-on. The bat made a sweet sound as it made contact with the ball

27.2 - Kaushal to Kohli, FOUR, Kaushal goes very full, Kohli drives it hard onto the ground, it bounces over the bowler, who jumps to his left in his followthrough in an attempt to stop the ball, but it beats him and beats mid-off and mid-on, who were giving chase

25.5 - Kaushal to Kohli, FOUR, flighted delivery goes very full, Kohli gets down on one knee and sweeps it along the ground through backward square leg

22.4 - Herath to Dhawan, FOUR, driven nicely and past the diving fielder at mid-off. Flighted delivery outside off stump, Dhawan steps out, gets close to the pitch of the ball and drives it past the fielder, who was diving full length to his right

21.5 - Kaushal to Kohli, FOUR, second full toss of the over, juicy ball from Kaushal, Kohli doesn't try to over-hit the ball, just drives with a straight bat and beats mid-on

18.0 - Kaushal to Kohli, FOUR, very full from Kaushal, Kohli leans forward, extends his arms and drives it nicely along the ground to the deep extra-cover boundary

16.5 - Dhammika to Kohli, FOUR, cracking shot! That is a shot of authority. Short and width provided outside off, Kohli stands tall and cuts in front of square, not a single muscle moved in the field. That was hit with immense power

14.5 - Dhammika to Dhawan, FOUR, poor delivery and deserved the treatment. Short and plenty of width on offer, Dhawan throws the kitchen sink at that, cuts it up and over backward point collects four more

13.2 - Mathews to Kohli, FOUR, fabulous shot! It is a trademark Kohli shot. Nothing much wrong with the delivery, on a length and outside off, he moves well forward, presents the full face and caresses it through extra cover, Dhammika gives chase and comes second, the timing was sublime

13.0 - Pradeep to Dhawan, FOUR, beautiful shot! Dhawan looks good when the ball is pitched up and not doing much, he gets well forward and creams it wide of mid-off, Herath didn't bother to chase that. That had four written all over it

10.4 - Pradeep to Dhawan, FOUR, lovely shot! Pradeep knew it was a bad ball, let out an expletive as soon as he delivered. Overpitched outside off, Dhawan presents the full face and drives it past the non-striker, the timing takes care of the rest

10.1 - Pradeep to Dhawan, FOUR, Pradeep welcomed to the crease with a crunching drive. It was a half volley but still needed to be put away, Dhawan gets a good stride forward and drills it through extra cover, the ball sped across the turf

7.3 - Mathews to Rohit, FOUR, good length ball outside off, Rohit saw the width on that and threw his hands, slashed it to the right of backward point and it raced away

2.0 - Pradeep to Dhawan, FOUR, Dhawan is off and running. That is also his 1000th run in Tests. It was a long half volley and Dhawan doesn't miss out, bends his back leg and caresses the drive wide of backward point, opened the bat face to get the placement right

110.5 - Pradeep to W Saha, SIX, down the track and he's hit this all the way. In fact, this is the first maximum of the Indian innings. Length delivery outside off stump, Saha jumps out and lofts it easily over long-off

117.4 - Kaushal to Aaron, out Caught by Mathews!! 5-wicket haul for Kaushal. It was once again the doosra, on a fuller length and around off, Aaron presses forward to defend, the ball takes the outside edge and goes at a nice height to Mathews at first slip, easy catch for the Sri Lanka captain. Aaron c Mathews b Kaushal 4(9) [4s-1]

114.5 - Pradeep to W Saha, out Caught by Chandimal!! Appeal for caught behind, umpire takes a while and raises his finger. Ishant was suggesting that the ball went off Saha's helmet and he was right. Short delivery on the stumps, Saha goes for the hook but misses, the ball brushes the helmet, misses both bat/glove. Unlucky for Saha, who shakes his head as he walks back, but India shouldn't mind though as this could be a blessing in disguise for them to have a few overs at Sri Lanka before close of play. Anyway, let's not take any credit away from Saha for playing a fine knock. W Saha c Chandimal b Pradeep 60(120) [4s-6 6s-1]

103.4 - Kaushal to Mishra, out Bowled!! Number four for Kaushal. Flighted delivery pitching outside off stump, once again big turn on offer, something that Mishy himself wouldn't mind on seeing the replay, he jumps out of the crease and tries to send it out of the park over long-on, but fails to make contact with the bat, the ball brushes the back pad before crashing into the stumps. Mishra b Kaushal 10(17) [4s-1]

99.2 - Kaushal to Harbhajan, out Bowled!! Harbhajan once again shuffles across the stumps and misses this completely. Umpire Nigel Llong wants to be sure that the keeper didn't disturb the bail and sends it upstairs. The replays clearly show that the ball kissed the leg stump. Harbhajan was trying to paddle-sweep it fine, but he ended up exposing middle and leg, the ball spun sharply and went past Bhajji's legs to disturb one bail. Kaushal gets his third wicket. Harbhajan b Kaushal 14(31) [4s-2]

89.5 - Pradeep to Ashwin, out Bowled!! Lovely delivery! Ashwin has been castled. Fourth wicket in the session for the hosts. Pradeep picks up his second. It was a good length delivery that nipped back in, Ashwin drives away from the body, leaves a gap between bat and pad for the ball to sneak through, crashes into off-stump. Sri Lanka have pulled things back superbly in the last hour. Ashwin b Pradeep 7(4) [4s-1]

88.0 - Pradeep to Dhawan, out Bowled!! Chopped on! That looked like a tired shot. His feet went nowhere and the bat was late to come down. However, it is a fine innings that comes to an end. He walks back to an ovation. A good length delivery around off, Dhawan stayed rooted to the crease, is late to bring his bat down, drags it back onto the stumps. Some more delight for Sri Lanka. It has been a better session for them. Can they make it even better? Dhawan b Pradeep 134(271) [4s-13]

75.2 - Kaushal to Rahane, out Lbw!! Rahane falls for a duck! Crucial strikes by Kaushal. This was tossed up and spun back into Rahane, he was pressing half forward in defence, doesn't count for the spin, gets struck low and in front of off-stump. Easy call for umpire Llong, the finger came up in a flash. The ball was crashing into the middle stump. All of a sudden, India are now down to their inexperienced lower middle-order. Rahane lbw b Kaushal 0(5)

74.0 - Kaushal to Kohli, out Lbw!! Kohli was looking unconvincing the whole day on the sweep, this time he's trapped right in front. This was tossed up on the middle stump line and spun into Kohli, he was down on his knees as he looked to sweep and missed, gets struck low and in front of leg-stump. The ball was going on to hit the leg-stump, easy call for umpire Llong. Kohli looks disappointed, but he has to go, ends a fine partnership for the third wicket. First wicket for Kaushal, Sri Lanka needed it badly. Kohli lbw b Kaushal 103(191) [4s-11]

9.3 - Mathews to Rohit, out Lbw!! After getting a reprieve in the last over, Rohit departs in this over. Once again he was caught in the crease. This one nips back in from a length, Rohit shuffles across and misses the defence, is struck on the back thigh, right in front of off-stump. Umpire Llong had the finger up in a flash. India in a spot of bother now. This game is moving pretty fast. already 12 wickets in the day and we have 30 more overs. Rohit lbw b Mathews 9(24) [4s-1]

3.0 - Dhammika to Rahul, out Lbw!! First wicket for Sri Lanka. Dhammika is delighted, raises both his arms and celebrates. Umpire Oxenford took a long time before raising his finger. Good length ball that nips back in, Rahul is late in bringing his bat down, is hit on the kneeroll, the ball would crashed into leg-stump. Just the start the hosts would have hoped for. Failure for Rahul means he has one more outing to claim a spot in the side. Rahul lbw b Dhammika 7(7)

105.0 - Dhammika to Ishant, no run, edgedddd and grassed. It's Sanga, who's put it down. That would have gone straight to a conventional first slip, but Sanga was standing wide, more at a position between first and second slip and even a full length dive to his left wasn't good enough. Full and outside off stump, Ishant goes for the drive and gets a thick edge, Sanga dives and gets his left hand to it, since it came very low, he couldn't hold on

77.1 - Kaushal to Dhawan, 1 run, dropped! Thirimanne almost pulled off a stunner. It was a juicy full toss outside off, Dhawan drives it in the air towards cover, Thiri leaps to his left, gets both hands but doesn't hang on, parries it to mid-off and the batsmen take a quick single. Luck still going Dhawan's way

19.0 - Herath to Kohli, no run, in the airrr and just wide of the man at short leg. Flighted delivery on the stumps, Kohli flicks but it dies down on the way to the man at short leg, very tough to call that a dropped chance, Silva just got his fingertips to it by stretching forward

17.5 - Kaushal to Dhawan, 1 run, dropped and it's the skipper himself, who has put this down at first slip. Flighted delivery just outside off stump, Dhawan leans forward to defend, the ball takes the thick outside and goes low, Mathews probably was a little late to react and he dived to his right and tried to grab it with one hand and he couldn't hold on. How costly will that be?

63.2 - Herath to Kohli, 1 run, this one is given more air, Kohli gets a good stride forward and drives it towards mid-off, off for a quick single, brings up the 200-run stand as well

37.4 - Herath to Kohli, 1 run, flat arm ball, Kohli gets back to tuck it wide of short leg, that's his fifty as well. Rahane and Arshad Ayub clap from the dressing room

33.2 - Kaushal to Kohli, 1 run, tossed up just outside off stump, Kohli flicks it to mid-on and that brings up the 100 partnership. Kohli and Dhawan congratulate each other

32.4 - Pradeep to Dhawan, 1 run, poor line, length ball down the leg-side, Dhawan tucks it behind square on the on-side for a single

30.2 - Pradeep to Dhawan, 1 run, full and on the off stump, Dhawan flicks it wide of mid-on and sets off for a run. That takes him to fifty, his third in Tests. The dressing room stands and applauds as Dhawan raises his bat

21.1 - Kaushal to Dhawan, no run, this is a lucky escape for Dhawan, huge mix-up but all is well in the end for India and Dhawan. Full toss on the stumps, Dhawan drives it to mid-on and sets off, Kohli was never interested, Dhawan was halfway down the track before he turned back, luckily for Dhawan the throw was poor from the fielder as it went wide of the bowler, before Chandimal received another throw, Dhawan was in

81.5 - Ishant to Chandimal, FOUR, juicy ball and Chandimal, who is on 158, will not miss out. Adds four more runs to his bag. Full and outside off stump, lofted over cover and it ran away for four

81.0 - Aaron to Chandimal, FOUR, down the track and smashed. Full and outside off stump, Chandimal drills it hard to the right of mid-off, who hardly moved. That raced away to the boundary in a flash

80.4 - Aaron to Chandimal, FOUR, goes for the bumper but Chandimal hits that well. Swivels on the pull, rolls his wrists over to pull, sends it through backward square leg and fine leg had no chance

21.5 - Harbhajan to Sangakkara, FOUR, Sangakkara takes on Harbhajan now and gets four. Comes down and lofts over mid-on, came more off a thick inside half but got it over the man. Didn't get completely to the pitch of that one that time

16.1 - Ashwin to Mathews, FOUR, Kohli claps while Ashwin holds his head. It was on the stumps, Mathews comes down the track and whips it in the air, there is a man at mid-wicket standing deep but the ball has gone wide and over him. A calculated blow and it has come off

15.1 - Harbhajan to Sangakkara, FOUR, Harbhajan starts with a short and wide delivery outside off, Sangakkara rocks back and cuts through cover. Raced away

13.4 - Aaron to Sangakkara, FOUR, short down leg, Sangakkara swivels and pulls, not off the middle of the bat but still enough to beat the fielder who has been put in now at fine leg, Aaron is a disappointed man

13.3 - Aaron to Sangakkara, FOUR, easily put away. Slanted in from round the wicket, Sangakkara gets inside the line and tucks it away, the fielder isn't at fine leg, so Sangakkara gets a boundary

8.0 - Ishant to Mathews, FOUR, short outside off, doesn't rise high enough to trouble Mathews, he swivels and pulls wide of mid-on. Hit it well and gets his second boundary of the over. That was a positive stroke

7.4 - Ishant to Mathews, FOUR, fine shot. Pitched up outside off, Mathews just drives through the line and gets it wide of mid-off. Raced away

5.5 - Ishant to Sangakkara, FOUR, in the air and just wide of Rahane at gully. Full outside off, Sangakkara square drove and it went to the left of the fielder. Was in the air but flashed away to the fence

73.2 - Ashwin to Chandimal, SIX, he doesn't need to rotate strike when he can clear the ropes with ease, this was dropped short by Ashwin, Chandimal rocks back and pulls it high and over mid-wicket for a maximum

70.1 - Harbhajan to Chandimal, SIX, lovely shot, incredible hitting from Chandimal, there was a man at deep point and Chandimal has cleared him with the reverse sweep. Harbhajan looks nonplussed. This was tossed up and just outside off, Chandimal got plenty of power behind the shot

64.3 - Harbhajan to Mubarak, SIX, massive, excellent use of the feet from Mubarak, comes down the track, lifts it with the spin and clears long-on with ease, that's superb attacking cricket from the batsman

51.2 - Mishra to Mubarak, SIX, Mubarak was on a pair but he plays a brave shot to open his account in the match. Flighted delivery on the stumps, with the ball spinning back into the him, Mubarak uses his feet, gets closer to the pitch of the ball and lofts it handsomely over long-on

14.1 - Ashwin to Mathews, SIX, Mathews takes on Ashwin and gets six. Down the track and then lofts it over mid-on, all the way

82.2 - Ashwin to Pradeep, out Bowled!! Third 10-wicket haul in a Test match for Ashwin. Six wickets in the first innings and four in the second. Slider pushed through, Pradeep plays inside the line as he plays for off-spin, it goes straight on and hits the top of off. Pradeep b Ashwin 3(4)

81.2 - Ishant to Kaushal, out Caught by W Saha!! Appeal from the Indians and umpire Nigel Llong raises his finger in a flash. Very full and outside off stump, Kaushal goes for the drive, was slightly late on the shot and the ball takes the outside edge before settling nicely into the hands of Saha. Kaushal c W Saha b Ishant 7(22) [4s-1]

72.5 - Mishra to Herath, out Caught by Rahane!! World Record for Rahane, he's taken his 8th catch, the most by any non wicket-keeper in Tests. Looks like Herath was a trifle unlucky though, Mishra came from round the wicket and drifted one across Herath, he closed the face of the bat as he looked to nudge it towards the on-side. There was a deflection. Was it off the bat or did it come off Herath's thigh pad? Anyway, the finger went up and the Indians celebrate. Chandimal looks disconsolate at the other end, he's fast running out of partners. Herath c Rahane b Mishra 1(15)

68.3 - Harbhajan to Mubarak, out Caught by Rahane!! Harbhajan has a wicket! Poor shot to end Mubarak's innings. A nothing shot really, this was tossed up and held its line outside off, Mubarak was perhaps looking to nudge it towards the off-side for a single, pushes inside the line, the healthy edge is found and Rahane at slip snaps up his seventh catch of the match. That equals Yajurvindra Singh's record for most catches by an Indian non-keeper in Tests. Mubarak c Rahane b Harbhajan 49(60) [4s-4 6s-2]

50.4 - Ashwin to Thirimanne, out Caught by Rahane!! That's a thick edge, it flew quickly but what a fielder Jinks is, it's another good grab from him. Flighted delivery outside off stump, slightly quicker through the air and it grips the surface, turns sharply, which opens up Thirimanne. He pokes at it and gets the outside edge, Rahane was actually going to his left initially, but reacted just in time and moved both hands to his right to take it well. Thirimanne falls 6 runs short of a fifty and that ends a gritty 125-run stand as well. Thirimanne c Rahane b Ashwin 44(76) [4s-4]

26.0 - Mishra to Mathews, out Caught by Rahul!! Sharp take by KL at silly point. Mishra strikes. Turned and bounced from a length, Mathews came forward to block and it took the bat handle and went head high to the man close-in, he took it with no trouble at all. Mathews just walked off in disappointment. Mathews c Rahul b Mishra 39(63) [4s-4 6s-1]

24.5 - Ashwin to Sangakkara, out Caught by Rahane!! Sangakkara goes. Standing ovation from the Galle crowd. His wife is shocked but recovers her composure to stand up and applaud Sangakkara's final innings at Galle. But what a catch to get him out. It was a beauty. Shortish and outside off, turned away, Sangakkara punched and it took a thick outside edge and was going to the left of first slip, Rahane dived full length to his left and stuck out his left-hand. The ball stuck and he gets up to flick the ball away. Sheer nonchalance about it all. Anticipation the key and Rahane took a step to his left as he saw Sangakkara shape for the shot. What a fielder Jinks is. The stubborn stand is broken. Sangakkara c Rahane b Ashwin 40(70) [4s-5]

4.1 - Aaron to Dhammika, out Caught by Rahane!! Gone! First ball of day 3 and Aaron strikes. The nightwatchman is out. A terrific short delivery - right on the stumps, Dhammika couldn't get out of the way, fended it, it took the bat handle and a good diving take to his left at gully. Rahane made that look easy. Dhammika could've dropped his gloves but didn't do so. Fab start for India. Dhammika c Rahane b Aaron 3(12)

1.5 - Mishra to Kaushal Silva, out Bowled!! Wow! This just keeps getting better and better. Both openers have been sent back for a duck. It was the wrong 'un which Silva didn't pick, it was on a driveable length and Silva went for it, he missed and the ball brushed the pad before hitting the off and middle stump. Kohli's ploy to start with Mishra has also worked. Kaushal Silva b Mishra 0(6)

0.5 - Ashwin to D Karunaratne, out Bowled!! What a start! Ashwin continues to trouble the Sri Lankan left-handers. He set Karunaratne up beautifully. After tossing a couple of deliveries, he pushes this one and gets it to skid onto the batsman, Karunaratne was rooted to crease and tried to defend, the inside edge crashes into leg-stump. D Karunaratne b Ashwin 0(5)

79.4 - Mishra to Chandimal, 1 run, 150 for Chandimal, gets a big round of applause from his teammates, full toss and just outside off, driven down towards long-off for a single

75.3 - Ishant to Chandimal, 2 runs, Kaushal could have been run-out had Ishant collected the throw. It wasn't a good throw from Ashwin, and it bounced awkwardly in front of the bowler. Kaushal was coming for the second run and would have been well short. Chandimal isn't happy with his partner for coming back for the second. He had stroked it to the left of mid-wicket

58.5 - Harbhajan to Chandimal, 1 run, 100 for Chandimal, he is chuffed to bits. He runs right towards the dressing room and does a one-knee salute, probably to Sangakkara, who was cheering on from inside. This has been an aggressive knock, his first hundred against a nation other than Bangladesh. His fastest as well, coming to the ball, he pushed one wide of cover and set off for a quick single, gets it with ease

45.4 - Ishant to Chandimal, 1 run, on a good length and holding its line outside off, eased square on the off-side for a single, brings up the 100-run stand as well

39.3 - Ishant to Chandimal, 1 run, fifty for Chandimal, gets a round of applause from his mates, on a good length and just outside off, worked away to the left of point for a single. He's managed to keep the Indians on the back foot, excellent counter-attacking knock

48.4 - Herath to Mishra, FOUR, lovely inside-out shot from Mishra. Flighted delivery outside off stump, Mishra uses his feet, gets to the pitch of the ball and drives it over extra-cover

48.0 - Kaushal to Mishra, FOUR, flighted delivery outside off stump, Mishra advances and slices the loft, wanted to hit it over mid-off, but it goes more towards extra-cover and escapes for four

45.3 - Kaushal to Mishra, FOUR, oh that's a brave hit from Mishy! Calculated hit I must say. Full and in the slot, with long-off inside the ring, Mishra lofts it over the infield and picks up a handy boundary

43.1 - Kaushal to Rahane, FOUR, that was Dinesh Chandimalesque from Rahane. Flighted delivery on the off stump, Rahane plays the reverse-sweep, no one at point and Herath couldn't get there in time from sweeper cover

39.2 - Kaushal to Rahane, FOUR, aggressive hit from Rahane. Flighted delivery on the off stump, Rahane gets down on one knee and sweeps well, keeps it all along the ground and sends it through square leg

34.5 - Herath to Rahane, FOUR, rare bad ball and Rahane has put it away, fraction short outside off, Rahane rocked back and cut it past the diving Thiri at extra cover, raced away. Pressure releasing boundary

22.4 - Herath to Rahane, FOUR, nice way to get off the mark. Tossed up outside off, Rahane gets forward and square drives with an open face, beats the chasing fielders. Opened his body slightly to play the shot

19.1 - Pradeep to Dhawan, FOUR, first runs for Dhawan after 52 minutes and it is a lucky inside edge past leg stump. It nipped back in and Dhawan was late on the defence, got lucky there. Raced away to the fine leg fence

16.3 - Herath to Rohit, FOUR, nice languid drive from Rohit. Is off the mark with that square drive, tossed up outside off, Rohit opens the face of the bat and gets it in the gap past cover. Kept it along the ground too

6.5 - Herath to Dhawan, FOUR, poor line and Dhawan doesn't miss out. Flighted delivery down the leg-side, Dhawan gets down on one knee and sweeps it fine to the long leg boundary

6.0 - Kaushal to Ishant, FOUR, lovely shot from Ishant. Flighted delivery very full, Ishant leans forward and square-drives it to the deep backward point boundary

1.1 - Herath to Dhawan, FOUR, straightaway the outside edge, but it flew past Mathews at slip. Flatter delivery outside off stump, Dhawan goes for the late-dab, bit of a lazy shot that, luckily for Dhawan it didn't go to hand

49.5 - Kaushal to Mishra, out Caught by D Karunaratne!! Stunning victory for Sri Lanka! They've done very well at Galle and this is their 14th win at this ground. Great scenes out there, the players mob Karunaratne. Oh hang on! They are checking for the front foot no-ball, but Kaushal is just fine with something behind the line. Flighted delivery on the stumps, Mishra looks to turn, gets an inside edge onto pad, the ball lobs over silly-point, who runs back, dives and completes the catch. Mishra c D Karunaratne b Kaushal 15(36) [4s-3]

46.3 - Herath to Rahane, out Caught by Mathews!! That should be the game for Sri Lanka. Wicket number seven for Rangana Herath and his team-mates surround him. Nothing but a flighted delivery outside off stump, Rahane looks to defend off the front foot, gets a thick outside edge which goes straight into the hands of the man at slip. Mathews throws the ball high in the air in joy after taking the catch, while the crowd celebrate in the stands. Another Indian batsman perishes looking to block, block, block. Rahane c Mathews b Herath 36(76) [4s-4]

39.0 - Herath to Ashwin, out Caught by Dhammika!! What have you done Ravichandran Ashwin? Sixth wicket for Ranganayya and India are 81/8. Flighted delivery on the off stump, Ashwin advances but doesn't get close to the pitch of the ball, yet goes through with a flick, mid-on was placed very wide and Ashwin tries to hit it further to his right, doesn't get the placement right and doesn't control the shot, hence it goes airborne. Dhammika moves to his right and dives to grab it with both hands. The fast bowler did well to cling on to it and Ashwin stood there for a moment in disbelief. Probably he could have tried to drive with a straight bat as mid-on was very wide. Ashwin c Dhammika b Herath 3(20)

32.3 - Herath to Harbhajan, out Caught by Kaushal Silva!! Harbhajan is unhappy. But there is no reason to be. He is dragging himself off the field. Llong gave it out immediately. India on their way to losing the game. Fifer for Herath. It drifted in and caught the pad of Harbhajan, then inside edge and Kaushal Silva at short leg rushes forward and takes a fantastic one-handed catch. Just before the ball hit the grass. I don't know why Harbhajan waited for so long. The umpires maybe wanted to check the veracity of the catch. It was fine. Brilliant take. Harbhajan c Kaushal Silva b Herath 1(7)

30.3 - Herath to W Saha, out Stumped!! What bowling from Herath. Bowled it slower, loopier, drew Saha out and the dip on the ball makes Saha go searching for it. He lunged out and missed, the ball turned and bounced past the bat, Chandimal did well to take it and then effect a stumping. Saha tried to get back but didn't. Oxenford could've given it out initially but went upstairs for a final check. W Saha st Chandimal b Herath 2(11)

27.3 - Kaushal to Dhawan, out Caught&Bowled!! Another great catch. Kaushal is mobbed by Mathews. Dhawan goes. He never looked comfortable out there, this was tossed up outside leg, a leading edge on the flick and Kaushal goes to his left to take a low catch. Again anticipation the key, even before Dhawan played the shot, Kaushal had gone to his left. Takes it inches off the turf and flicks the ball away. Dhawan c and b Kaushal 28(83) [4s-3]

22.0 - Kaushal to Kohli, out Caught by Kaushal Silva!! Great catch. The Sri Lankans go mad. Kaushal is jumping around in joy. India in trouble. Kohli flicked that but it went off the pad and low to short leg standing deep, Kaushal was anticipating the shot and caught it. Threw it away and lay flat on the ground in delight as his team-mates mobbed him. Kohli walks away in disappointment. The ploy to stand a bit deep at short leg has worked wonders. Kohli c Kaushal Silva b Kaushal 3(10)

18.5 - Herath to Rohit, out Bowled!! Herath exults. Cracker. Pitched around middle, Rohit came forward to defend but the ball spun away and hit off. Rohit didn't cover the line and also played slightly inside the line. The ball spun after pitching. Classic Herath delivery and he punches the air in delight. He set up Rohit with tossed up deliveries and then pulled his length back at the right moment. Rohit b Herath 4(16) [4s-1]

14.1 - Herath to Ishant, out Lbw!! Herath strikes first ball today. Pad first and Llong raises his finger in a flash. Pitched on off stump from round the wicket, Ishant was stretching forward to block, didn't get the bat before pad, struck in-line and would've gone on to hit off. Good decision and the nightwatchman goes. Ishant lbw b Herath 10(23) [4s-1]

4.3 - Herath to Rahul, out Lbw!! This was on the cards. Rahul was never good with his technique here as he was staying back to deliveries that he should have been forward. This is one such delivery. Flighted delivery pitching on middle and turning square, Rahul was on the back foot to defend, but the spin opens him up, beats the bat and hits him right in front of middle. That was absolutely plumb and umpire Nigel Llong had no doubt in his mind. This is just the start Sri Lanka wanted. By the way, this is the first wicket in the match for Herath. Rahul lbw b Herath 5(14)

9.2 - Pradeep to Ishant, 1 run, dropped by Thiri at 2nd slip. Should've been taken. Ishant drove away from the body and the edge was dying on the fielder who was Thirimanne, he came forward and the ball hit his wrist and went to ground. Grabbed at it and that's why he missed it. That would've been a major boost had that been caught

5.5 - Kaushal to Dhawan, 1 run, bigggg moment. Had Kaushal collected it cleanly, it would have been very very tight for Dhawan. Surely Dhawan was out if it was a direct-hit. Flighted delivery outside off stump, Dhawan drives it to cover, Mubarak fumbles and Dhawan decides to run for the misfield, the throw is not all that accurate, Kaushal fails to collect the ball cleanly to his left as he was in a hurry to break the stumps in one movement
