Due to some technical problems, we are unable to cover live matches on our site and app. We are working on it and will be back soon. Please stay tuned for more.

36.2 - Anderson to Lyon, FOUR, this is a proper number 11 shot though, pitched up and nipping away slightly, Lyon went hard on the drive, gets a thick edge that flies over the slip cordon, no need to run for those

36.1 - Anderson to Lyon, FOUR, lovely shot, overpitched and just outside off, Lyon leans forward, uses the bottom hand to good effect and whips it through mid-wicket for a boundary, that's a not a shot from a number 11 for sure

35.4 - Broad to Hazlewood, FOUR, more runs for Australia, overpitched and well outside off, Hazlewood leans forward and drives it through the vacant mid-off region, the ball races away to the fence in a hurry

33.0 - Anderson to Hazlewood, FOUR, fuller length delivery and well outside off, Hazlewood saw the width and went for the cover drive, gets a thick edge that flies over the catching cordon - behind the wicket. Another handy boundary for Hazlewood

32.3 - Anderson to Hazlewood, FOUR, edged and four, this was full and very very wide outside off, Hazlewood had to reach out for the drive, gets a thick edge that flies over third slip, Hazlewood is off and running with a boundary

30.4 - Anderson to Starc, FOUR, positive batting from Starc, tad fuller and wider outside off, Starc was looking to go over cover, ends up slicing it over cover-point, the ball has enough to beat the chasing fielder, a handy boundary for Australia

25.2 - Finn to Chris Rogers, FOUR, nicely played by Rogers, short of a length and well outside off, Rogers gets on top of the bounce and neatly guides it in the gap between third slip and gully

21.3 - Finn to Chris Rogers, FOUR, lovely shot, fraction too full and too wide from Finn, Rogers leans forward and punches it on the up, finds the gap past cover and the fast outfield does the rest

20.0 - Finn to Voges, FOUR, poor ball from Finn, too straight and drifting onto Voges' pads, he shuffles across and flicks it fine, races away past the keeper and into the fence for a boundary

19.0 - Broad to Chris Rogers, FOUR, that's a nice way to round off the session. Very full and slanted in on the pads, Chris Rogers clips it through mid-wicket and the ball races away. All along the ground. That will be lunch on day 1 as Chris Rogers and Voges walk off

18.1 - Broad to Voges, FOUR, "Catch" was the cry as Voges pushed a drive just to the right of Broad, the ball was past Broad before he could react, misses the stumps at the other end and beats the chasing fielder

18.0 - Finn to Chris Rogers, FOUR, emphatically put away. Short outside off, Chris Rogers was in position early and pulled it wide of the man at deep mid-wicket, he had no chance. The short ball didn't rise enough to trouble Chris Rogers

15.3 - Finn to Chris Rogers, FOUR, very full from Finn and Chris Rogers has put that away. Gets forward to that one and drives past the straight short mid-off, he didn't even dive for it was hit well and raced away past him. Chris Rogers is a strong driver in front of the wicket

14.5 - Broad to Voges, FOUR, very full and driven through mid-off by Voges. Bairstow gives a spirited chase and dives head-first to pull it back but the ball beats him to the ropes, it was nicely played by Voges as he leant forward and pushed it past the bowler. Also great stuff by Bairstow who didn't give up the chase

13.4 - Finn to Chris Rogers, FOUR, "wait on" was the initial call as Chris Rogers punched it to the right of Stokes at backward point, he went to his right and got a fingertip on it, copped one there and wrings his fingers immediately, the ball raced away to the fence

12.1 - Broad to Chris Rogers, FOUR, "catch" went Broad and the Englishmen after Chris Rogers played a walking drive in the air, wide of Stokes' right-hand at backward point. Just over Stokes' desperate attempt to catch. Stokes tried his best but it went over him. Lucky moment for Chris Rogers there

11.0 - Anderson to Clarke, FOUR, only three slips and that has gone where a fourth slip would've been. Full outside off, Clarke drives and gets a thick outside edge in between third slip and gully. Not sure whether it would've carried but needed an extra fielder. Races away through the vacant third man region

10.5 - Anderson to Clarke, FOUR, "Cunning leave for four" says Nasser on air. That is some way to describe the kind of shot Clarke played. He was shaping to leave the inswinger, while he was taking the bat away, the ball takes the toe-end and wrong-foots Buttler who was going to his left to collect, the ball bisects him and Cook at first slip and runs away

10.1 - Anderson to Clarke, leg byes, FOUR, down leg and takes Clarke's pads as he misses the flick, beats Buttler's dive and races away. Given as leg byes

7.5 - Finn to S Smith, FOUR, half-volley and driven through cover for four. Easy for Smith as he strides forward and then times the drive to get a boundary

4.0 - Broad to Chris Rogers, FOUR, dug in short outside off, Chris Rogers wants to play the pull stroke this time and gets it wide of Moeen Ali at fine leg, he can't get there and the ball races away. Much more intent in that stroke from Rogers

1.4 - Broad to Chris Rogers, FOUR, that's easy - for Chris Rogers - full on the pads, he clips it through mid-wicket which is vacant and the ball races away to the fence. Looks like the outfield is in fine shape

36.4 - Anderson to Lyon, out Bowled!! Australia have been bundled out for 136. Anderson finishes with impressive figures of 6/47. This was pitched up and held its line outside off, Lyon went hard on the cover drive, gets a thick inside edge and the off-stump is clattered. Anderson is chuffed to bits as he leads his team off the ground. Lyon b Anderson 11(11) [4s-2]

33.3 - Broad to Starc, out Caught by Buttler!! Another moment of indecision, Starc has to walk back to the hut. This was pitched up outside off and held its line, Starc was in two minds, makes a late call to let it go. He is late in getting the bat out of the way, the ball grazes the bottom edge and it's another simple catch for Buttler. Australia are nine down and the end is nigh now. Starc c Buttler b Broad 11(20) [4s-1]

31.2 - Broad to Chris Rogers, out Lbw!! Rogers falls after a fighting 52. Australia have lost their 8th wicket. This was pitched up and nipped back into the left-hander, Rogers was shuffling across on the whip, missed and was struck on the back pad. The impact was in front of off and middle, it was going on to hit the top of middle. Three REDS and it's a simple call for umpire Dar. Rogers had to go for the review, but it simply vindicated the umpire. Chris Rogers lbw b Broad 52(89) [4s-9]

27.0 - Anderson to Johnson, out Caught by Stokes!! Anderson strikes first ball after changing to round the wicket. A five wicket haul as well. This was full and wide outside off, Johnson pushed hard at that, he was playing well in front of his body. The edge is found, it goes low and to the left of Stokes at fifth slip. He does well to get his fingers underneath it and completes the catch. Australia are collapsing after lunch, the Edgbaston crowd is loving every moment of this. Johnson c Stokes b Anderson 3(6)

24.4 - Anderson to Nevill, out Bowled!! Horrible misjudgement from Nevill, Anderson is on a roll. This was the inswinger from Anderson, pitched just outside off and came back with the angle, Nevill was playing for one that went away, he shouldered arms to this one and hears the death rattle behind him, the off-stump is rattled. Fourth wicket for Anderson, the third in this session and Australia are in huge trouble now. Nevill b Anderson 2(8)

22.3 - Anderson to M Marsh, out Caught by Buttler!! Edged and caught! Anderson is slicing through Australia's middle-order here. This was full and wide outside off, looking to tempt Marsh into the booming drive, he can't resist and goes hard at the ball, the outside edge is found and it's a simple catch to the keeper. Marsh registers a duck, third wicket for Anderson and Australia have lost half their side. M Marsh c Buttler b Anderson 0(3)

21.0 - Anderson to Voges, out Caught by Buttler!! Indecision costs Voges dear! A nothing delivery from Anderson, short of a length and holding its line outside off, Voges was caught in two minds, makes a late call to let it go, he can't get his bat out of the way, the ball runs off the toe-end. Buttler dives across to his right and comes up with a neat catch. Voges is gutted as he walks back to the hut, a bright little partnership has been ended. Voges c Buttler b Anderson 16(34) [4s-3]

11.2 - Finn to Clarke, out Bowled!! Knocked him over! Clarke has been castled by an yorker, not sure whether the ball moved away past the outside edge but looks like Clarke has missed a straight yorker, the bat came down slightly late and the ball rattled the stumps. The out-of-form Clarke goes and England's dream hour continues. Clarke b Finn 10(10) [4s-2]

8.0 - Finn to S Smith, out Caught by Cook!! Big wicket and Finn gets a wicket in his first over on his comeback. He is roaring in delight as his team-mates mob him. Pitched up outside off and moving away, Smith shuffled across to defend and got a thick outside edge, Buttler moved across but Cook at first slip kept his cool and took the catch near his bootlaces. That wasn't an easy catch but Cook made it look simple. Huge blow for Australia. S Smith c Cook b Finn 7(18) [4s-1]

2.2 - Anderson to Warner, out Lbw!! That is plumb. Pitched in-line, was heading towards middle and off and pinned Warner on the back foot, missed the inside edge and struck him just on the kneeroll. Warner was looking jittery at the crease in his short stay and has missed a straight ball. Out of hope he went for the review after Chris Gaffaney ruled it out. The third umpire after going through the process upholds the original decision. Warner lbw b Anderson 2(6)

27.4 - Broad to Chris Rogers, 2 runs, fifty for Rogers, he continues his good run, pitched up and holding its line outside off, Rogers leans forward and pushes it past the diving mid-off fielder, gets back for the second run

64.5 - Hazlewood to Broad, FOUR, hammered! Lyon had a few meters to cover and he still couldn't get there. Back of a length outside off, Broad slaps it in front of square, Lyon runs to his left, dives and can't stop the ball

63.1 - Lyon to Moeen Ali, FOUR, Ali is looking more confident. He was struggling against Lyon before lunch, but no problems this time around, dances down the wicket, meets the pitch of the ball and tonks it over mid-off for a one bounce four

61.0 - Johnson to Moeen Ali, FOUR, third boundary of the over and that gets the crowd going. Clarke once again has a worried look on his face. His premier fast bowler is leaking runs. Pitched up outside off, Ali goes up and over mid-off, couple of bounces and into the fence

60.4 - Johnson to Moeen Ali, FOUR, fabulous shot! For the second time Ali has split the two fielders behind square on the leg-side. Short and on the stumps, pulled on one leg to deep backward square, right between Marsh and Hazlewood

60.2 - Johnson to Moeen Ali, FOUR, good shot! The attempted yorker, can't get it completely into the blockhole, Ali wrists it through the vacant mid-on region, Starc gives chase from mid-off only to come second

59.0 - Johnson to Moeen Ali, FOUR, after all the playing and missing, Ali produces a glorious shot. Pitched up on off, Ali presents the full face of the bat, punches it past Broad and collects four more. That was a fabulous shot

58.3 - Johnson to Moeen Ali, FOUR, superbly placed. Short delivery at the batsman, Ali gets inside the line, swivels and pulls it on one leg behind square, bisected the two fielders in the deep to perfection

57.4 - Lyon to Broad, FOUR, the lead is 100. Pushed through outside off, Broad looks to force it through the off-side, the outside edge flies to the right of the gully fielder. Another boundary for Broad

57.2 - Lyon to Broad, FOUR, rare loose delivery from Lyon, half tracker outside off, Broad goes on the back foot and cracks it square of the wicket, no need to run for those as he had timed it well

56.5 - Johnson to Moeen Ali, FOUR, Ali is almost strangled down leg. Short of a length and down leg, Ali gets inside the line and gets a feather on it, Nevill dives to his right and misses it by an inch or so

54.4 - Starc to Moeen Ali, FOUR, that might be the first ball he has got off the middle. Full and in the slot for Ali to free his arms, swings through the line and laces it over extra cover for a boundary

52.2 - Starc to Moeen Ali, FOUR, edged and four! Full and wide outside off, Ali throws the kitchen sink at it, the outside edge flies over the slip cordon. He is struggling to get it off the middle

47.2 - Lyon to Moeen Ali, FOUR, edged and four! Should have had a gully with the turn Lyon is getting. Floated up outside off, lures Ali into the drive, the outside edge flies to the left of Clarke at first slip, raced away to the fence

43.0 - Starc to Moeen Ali, FOUR, another edge and this time Ali manages to elude the slip fielders. Good length ball in the channel around off, Ali goes searching for it, the ball takes the outside edge and goes to the left of Warner

40.2 - Starc to Root, FOUR, bad bowling! Fuller and on the pads, Root leans forward and flicks it through mid-wicket, the timing is sweet as the ball races away. Clarke looks in despair, hangs his head down

38.5 - Starc to Buttler, FOUR, poor stuff from Starc. Third delivery in a row that is on or outside leg-stump, Buttler leans forward and flicks it through square leg, no one bothered to chase that as it was timed superbly

38.3 - Starc to Buttler, byes, FOUR, bonus runs for England. Big inswinger from Starc, but pitches it on leg-stump and gets it to shape further away, Nevill dives and gets both gloves, but can't make a clean stop

33.4 - Starc to Root, FOUR, top shot! Nothing wrong with the delivery. It was on a length close to off, Root gets well forward, presents the full face of the bat and creams it through cover, the pace of Starc takes it to the fence. Came right off the meat of the bat

31.2 - Hazlewood to Root, FOUR, still no third man and Root helps himself to another boundary. Short of a length and on off, Root rises on his toes, guides it with an angled bat to third man, Lyon gave the chase up this time around

31.1 - Hazlewood to Root, FOUR, back of a length just outside off, Root hangs back, opens the bat face and steers it to the third man fence. Lyon gives chase but comes second

30.1 - Johnson to Root, FOUR, swing for Johnson, but wrong line. Full on middle and leg, Root has no problems dealing with it, leans forward and flicks it elegantly through mid-wicket, no chance for the chasing fielders to haul it back in

29.4 - Hazlewood to Bairstow, FOUR, first runs of the day and it is a crisp drive from Bairstow. Overpitched outside off, Bairstow gets forward and caresses it through the vacant cover region, the timing takes it to the fence. England have taken the lead

26.3 - Starc to Bell, FOUR, Bell gets to his 44th Test fifty. Bell would be a happy man as he has been out of form for long. He has certainly looked in regal touch in this innings, especially while driving. He gets to his 50 too with a cover-drive off a full delivery that was bowled just outside off

25.4 - Hazlewood to Root, FOUR, full and again drifting down leg, Root flicks it wide of mid-on, Johnson is too late to get in the dive and it goes through him for a four

25.1 - Hazlewood to Root, FOUR, fuller and outside off, Root leans into the drive superbly and finds the gap through deep extra cover fo a boundary. Even when Root essayed a ton against Sussex back in 2011, he was known for his ability to play off the back foot, but has definitely improved his front foot play

24.1 - Starc to Root, FOUR, good length delivery that angles away from the right-hander, Root gets a thick outside edge, but thankfully for him it runs away to the boundary boards well wide of the third slip fielder

23.0 - Starc to Bell, FOUR, Bell shows his ability to play the late cut there. He used that shot to great effect in the 2013 Ashes. He just waits for the ball to come to him and then cuts it through gully for a boundary

22.4 - Starc to Bell, FOUR, again overpitched from Starc and Bell is right on top of the ball as he collects a boundary through square of the wicket on the off-side for a four. That shot would have brought tears of joy in the eyes of his mentor - Dominic Ostler

22.2 - Starc to Bell, FOUR, very full and right in the slot for Bell to essay a glorious cover-drive through sweeper cover for a boundary. It was in the air for a while, but was safe

21.4 - Hazlewood to Bell, FOUR, fuller and tempts the drive from Bell, he leans forward and gets an outside edge through third man for a boundary. It was in the air for a long time and if there was a standing gully, it would have been interesting

19.3 - Hazlewood to Root, FOUR, poor delivery from Hazlewood as he bowls this one down leg, Root takes a heavy toll of it by glancing it through fine leg for a boundary

16.3 - Hazlewood to Bell, FOUR, a hat-trick of fours for Bell. Poor line from Hazlewood and he pays the penalty. Good length on the pads, easily flicked away through backward square leg

16.2 - Hazlewood to Bell, FOUR, four more, but this time off the outside edge. Hazlewood drags his length back slightly, Bell was looking for the drive once again, the ball takes the thick edge and goes through the vacant gully region

16.1 - Hazlewood to Bell, FOUR, aaahh! A lovely looking front foot cover drive from Bell and that raced off the bat. The cover region is vacant, as Hazlewood bowls a full outswinger outside off stump, Bell leans forward and nails the drive to perfection. The crowd love it and get right behind the England batsmen

15.5 - M Marsh to Cook, FOUR, poor ball. Short of a length and a lot of width on offer outside off stump, Cook waits for the ball to come and cuts well, doesn't bother to keep it down and sends it wide of the man at backward point

15.1 - M Marsh to Bell, FOUR, easy pickings for Bell. Full and on the leg stump, Bell flicks it nicely through square leg, Johnson runs to his left from long leg and slides, but almost goes past it, the ball bursts through the fingers and goes for four

14.5 - Johnson to Cook, FOUR, too straight from Johnson and that's in Cook's zone. good length delivery on the stumps, Cook gets across a bit and then flicks it nicely through mid-wicket to collect four easy runs

12.4 - Johnson to Bell, FOUR, short but not rising much, it was leg stump line from Johnson, Bell managed to swivel across and help it on its way to the long leg boundary

12.2 - Johnson to Bell, leg byes, FOUR, Bell wasn't sure about his footwork there. He was late to react as this length ball swung back in late and sharply into him, his front foot went across the line and hence he couldn't get bat on the glance, the ball rolls off the thigh pad to the fine leg boundary

11.4 - M Marsh to Cook, FOUR, the inside edge is found this time. Full and just swinging back in, Cook looks to off-drive, luckily the edge misses the stumps and beats the man at fine leg

8.3 - Starc to Cook, FOUR, lovely back foot drive from Cook. Back of a length and outside off stump, not much of swing on this one, Cook got into position early, waited for the ball to come and sent it through cover-point

8.0 - Hazlewood to Cook, FOUR, bumper on the off stump, Cook was quick to rock back to pull, controlled that nicely as he kept it along the ground and to the left of the man at short leg

7.0 - Starc to Lyth, FOUR, it's too straight this time and Lyth helps himself to a boundary. On a length and on leg stump line, Lyth hops and tickles it fine to beat the man at fine leg

20.2 - Johnson to Root, SIX, finally Johnson when he banged it short, bowls it outside off, Root tries to pull, but isn't able to control the shot and gets a top edge over fine leg for a six. Johnson likely will test him again with short stuff

67.1 - Starc to Anderson, out Caught by Nevill!! End of Anderson and end of England. The Aussie openers run off as does Smith who is number three in the batting order. Full outside off, no footwork from Anderson as he pushes out and the healthy outside edge is snaffled by Nevill. He hangs on in the webbing. Nearly popped out. He will be grateful that it stuck. Anderson c Nevill b Starc 3(2)

66.3 - Hazlewood to Moeen Ali, out Caught by Warner!! Moeen Ali falls after a fine innings. The width was there for the shot, short and wide outside off, Moeen Ali slashed hard and found Warner a few paces from the boundary ropes at third man. Warner back-pedalled and took it comfortably, reverse-cupping it onto his chest. Moeen Ali c Warner b Hazlewood 59(78) [4s-11]

65.0 - Hazlewood to Broad, out Caught by M Marsh!! The 87-run partnership has been broken. But has the damage been done? A handy innings from Broad comes to an end. Not the best of deliveries from Hazlewood, short and outside off, Broad was better off carving it through the off-side, but instead goes for the pull and toe-ends it to mid-on, Marsh settles under it and takes it comfortably. The umpires check for a possible no-ball, but Hazlewood had some part of his foot behind the line. Broad c M Marsh b Hazlewood 31(55) [4s-3]

45.3 - Lyon to Buttler, out Lbw!! This time Lyon has got his man. No doubt for Aleem Dar as he raised his finger in a flash. Third wicket for Lyon in as many overs. Another tossed up delivery, pitches on middle and straightens, Buttler shuffles across and plays all around it, is struck right in front of middle. He has a chat with Ali and decides against the review. However, as per HawkEye the ball was missing the stumps. In fact, it was missing it by a long way. Buttler lbw b Lyon 9(38) [4s-1]

41.0 - Starc to Root, out Caught by Voges!! Poor cricket! Root walks back shaking his head. He is gutted with himself. Just when one thought Starc wasn't bowling well, he picks up a wicket and that too of Root. He again fires this full and outside off, Root went after it without any footwork, the outside edge goes straight to Voges at first slip. A promising stand of 40 has been broken. Root c Voges b Starc 63(75) [4s-9 6s-1]

30.5 - Johnson to Stokes, out Caught by Nevill!! Johnson has just changed the game in 3 balls. 300 wickets becomes 301. Stokes goes without troubling the scorers. He has a look at the wicket, but no demons there. Brilliant bowling! Again the short delivery produces the wicket, it was aimed at the batsman, Stokes tried to sway out of the way, the ball kisses the glove and goes at a good height for Nevill. The Australians went up straightaway, they knew they had their man. Stokes c Nevill b Johnson 0(2)

30.3 - Johnson to Bairstow, out Caught by Nevill!! 300th wicket for Johnson. Seems like a day of milestones. Steyn just picked his 400th in Bangladesh. It was a rip-snorter. Bairstow couldn't have done much with that. Banged in short and right at the batsman, it kept rearing at Bairstow, who leapt and tried to get out of the way, but wasn't able to do so in the nick of time, the ball brushes the glove and settles nicely into Nevill's gloves. Good start for Australia. Bairstow c Nevill b Johnson 5(12) [4s-1]

27.4 - Lyon to Bell, out Caught by Warner!! Well, this isn't the first time that Bell has tried to use his feet and lost his wicket. Anyone remembers him getting out first ball in the first Test in India in 2012-13? It was a tossed up delivery from Lyon, Bell uses his feet to it, isn't able to come to the pitch of the ball, his bottom hand comes off the bat handle, hits it straight up in the air and Warner from short mid-wicket goes back and takes a steepler. The credit has to go to Lyon for giving it air and getting it to dip on the batsman. Bell c Warner b Lyon 53(56) [4s-10]

17.2 - Lyon to Cook, out Caught by Voges!! Oh my word! That is an unbelievable catch. "Nooo way," is the reaction from David Gower on air after seeing that catch. Cook is gutted. He played a very good shot, but luck was on Voges' side. Short and on the stumps, asking to be put away, Cook rocked back and pulled nicely from the middle of the bat, Voges at short leg was actually ducking and didn't even look at the ball, but it came straight at him, hit the hands before hitting the stomach and he managed to clutch it onto his body. Even the cameraman thought it was four and focused towards deep mid-wicket. Cook was looking very good, but he was unlucky there. Just a shake of the head and then a smile on his face as he walks off. Cook c Voges b Lyon 34(48) [4s-5]

7.3 - Hazlewood to Lyth, out Caught by Voges!! That's a gift, absolute gift from Lyth. Why would you chase deliveries that are way outside off stump, especially in seamer-friendly conditions. Voges almost dropped that at first slip, but he managed to grab the rebound. Good length delivery outside off stump, Lyth reaches out and drives, only to get a thick outside edge, it was the cross-seamer from Hazlewood and it went on with the angle. Voges moved to his right and tried to reverse-cup it, but it popped out. Eventually he took it on the third attempt and wore a big smile on his face. So Australia have got the early breakthrough they wanted. Lyth c Voges b Hazlewood 10(30) [4s-1]

62.4 - Hazlewood to Moeen Ali, 1 run, fifty for Ali. His 4th in Tests. The crowd are on their feet and so are his mates. Raise of the bat and a handshake with Broad. Short and outside off, Ali cuts it square of the wicket and reaches the landmark

45.2 - Lyon to Buttler, no run, flighted delivery on the stumps, Buttler prods forward and looks to defend, he takes his bat out of the way, the ball lobs to short leg. Australia ponder for a while before asking for the review. There was no bat according to HotSpot. And the ball was going over the stumps. So, Buttler survives both

33.5 - Starc to Root, 2 runs, fifty for Root. And the whole ground goes "Roooooootttt". It is another fine innings from this young man. Raises his bat and acknowledges the applause from the crowd. Short delivery, not much pace on that, Root rolls his wrists and pulls it along the ground to deep mid-wicket for a brace

74.4 - Stokes to Lyon, FOUR, full outside off, Lyon went after that and drove it in the gap at cover. His second boundary and the lead grows

74.0 - Moeen Ali to Lyon, FOUR, well hit! On the off stump line, Lyon kneels down and sweeps it hard through mid-wicket for a boundary. No-one in the deep and it raced away

71.4 - Moeen Ali to Starc, FOUR, wasn't cleanly hit but still gets four. Saw the flighted delivery outside off and lofted it, cleared mid-off and dribbled away to the fence. Starc will take his chances against the spinners

70.3 - Root to Starc, FOUR, tossed up outside off, Starc lofts it cleanly over mid-on, one bounce over the ropes, nearly went all the way. Starc saw the flight and decided to go downtown

69.3 - Moeen Ali to Hazlewood, FOUR, skidding on from round the wicket, Hazlewood went back to punch and the thick outside edge went wide of slip. Along the ground and beat Broad at backward point. Four more runs

62.4 - Finn to Starc, FOUR, that's where he is good. Driving off the front foot. Full outside off, hit on the rise and in the gap at cover. Raced away. Finn feels the disappointment

61.0 - Finn to Nevill, FOUR, hands on head time for Finn. Pitched up outside off, swinging away, Nevill throws his hands at the drive and the ball flies off a thick outside edge through the vacant gully. If there was a man there, would've gone straight to him

60.1 - Finn to Starc, FOUR, top shot! Full outside off, Starc leans forward and drives on the rise, through cover and all along the carpet, raced away. That was elegant from Starc

58.2 - Finn to Starc, FOUR, straight in the gap between fourth slip and a gully. Australia continue to get lucky. Full outside off, Starc went for a big drive and got an edge, there were three slips and a gap - that's where the ball went. Wide of Lyth at gully

57.3 - Broad to Starc, FOUR, straight through Moeen Ali at mid-on. That should've been stopped. Full on the stumps, clipped nicely by Starc and even though it was well-timed, Moeen after getting across should've ensured that he cut it off. Lets it go and it races away to the fence

57.0 - Finn to Nevill, FOUR, fifty for Nevill. His maiden one in Tests. Gets a handshake from Starc. Wrong line from Finn, drifts onto the pads, Nevill gets inside the line and tickles it down to the fine leg fence. Healthy applause from the crowd and the team management. Nevill has gutsed it out and deserves this fifty

56.5 - Finn to Nevill, FOUR, very lucky is Nevill! He wanted to leave that back of a length delivery outside off, in trying to do so, the ball takes the bottom edge of the hanging blade and goes periliously close to the stumps. Finn has his hands on his head. He knows how close that was

55.2 - Broad to Nevill, FOUR, a thick outside edge and it goes wide of the third slip fielder diving to his right, it went down quickly. Good delivery from Broad, on a good length and outside off, shaped away and took the edge of the defending Nevill

49.3 - Moeen Ali to Nevill, FOUR, down leg, there is a leg-slip in place but Nevill gets it wide of the man. Tickled to fine leg for a boundary. Wrong line from Moeen Ali

37.3 - Moeen Ali to Johnson, FOUR, Johnson has smashed that straight down the ground, comes down the track and then to the pitch before going over the bowler. He won't let Moeen Ali dictate terms to him

29.4 - Stokes to Nevill, FOUR, pitched up outside off, Nevill gets forward and square-drives well, finding the gap at point. The ball had timing associated with it and a pleasing stroke to get four. Stokes went looking for the edge but Nevill drove it well

28.1 - Anderson to Warner, leg byes, FOUR, down leg, flicks the jumper and a bit of the thigh pad, races away to the fine leg fence

27.0 - Finn to Nevill, FOUR, Broad consoles a disappointed Finn by patting him. He drifted down leg and it was clipped away nicely past square leg, the ball raced away. Nevill played that well. Rare bad ball from Finn and Nevill gets four

25.1 - Stokes to Warner, FOUR, yorker length outside off, Warner squeezes it past the diving second slip, races away after it beats the fielder. Warner ensured that he didn't edge it in the air. The fielder tried his best but he didn't even get a fingertip on it

18.1 - Finn to Warner, FOUR, top shot! Length delivery outside off, Warner came half-forward and creamed the drive wide of cover. He will continue to play his strokes. Timed well to go all the way

15.0 - Finn to Warner, FOUR, Clarke pats Warner's head as the opener crunches a half-volley wide of mid-off. Finn went full and wide, a bit too full and it was thumped by Warner off the front foot. An aggressive stroke to round off the session and Clarke liked what he saw from Warner as they walk off for tea

11.5 - Moeen Ali to Warner, FOUR, cracking back cut. Fraction short outside off, Warner rocks back and cuts, beats Broad at backward point. Raced away

11.1 - Moeen Ali to Warner, FOUR, down leg, needed a tickle and Warner provided that by glancing it away to the fine leg fence. Poor start from Moeen Ali

9.5 - Finn to Warner, FOUR, Warner after surviving the initial danger period is into his groove. This wasn't a bad ball. On a short of length and on the stumps, Warner lifts one leg up in the air and then flamingo-pulls over the square leg umpire. Beats the fielder at deep backward square by a distance

9.3 - Finn to Warner, FOUR, top shot. Warner standing on the back foot and thumping a back of a length delivery through cover. Rocked back and gave it everything. Dismissive

9.0 - Anderson to S Smith, FOUR, half-volley outside off and Smith who has been very patient so far, gets forward and drives handsomely through mid-off. It was timed well and raced away

6.4 - Anderson to Warner, FOUR, well bowled Anderson but no luck. The inswinger, on leg stump, Warner gets a thick inside edge on the forward defence and the ball races away fine to the fine leg fence. The fielder is too square and he had no chance of cutting that off

5.3 - Broad to Warner, FOUR, just wide of the diving Lyth at fourth slip. Broad runs around and goes back to his mark in disappointment. Full outside off, drew Warner forward and got the edge, the batsman was lucky that it eluded the full-length dive of the fielder to his left

2.1 - Anderson to Chris Rogers, FOUR, airborne and in the gap. Full outside off, Chris Rogers came forward to drive and one hand came off the bat handle as he drove, but it went to the right and wide of Stokes at backward point. Chris Rogers got a tad lucky there, so easily could've carried to the man

1.3 - Broad to Warner, FOUR, fabulous drive. Tad full and outside off, Warner gets forward and essays a glorious drive. Just leant forward and met the ball with the broadest of blades. In the gap at cover and it raced away

1.2 - Broad to Warner, FOUR, right in the gap through where a fourth slip would've been. On a short of length and outside off, Warner pushed out and got a healthy edge but got it in the gap. Through the vacant region no third man. So Warner gets off the mark with that boundary

72.0 - Moeen Ali to Starc, SIX, fifty for Starc and the lead is 100. Some way to get to fifty. Saw the flight on that and then knelt down to slog it high up in the air, lots of height on that and it clears the long-on fence, just

79.1 - Moeen Ali to Starc, out Caught by (sub)Poysden!! All over. The sub takes the catch. It was tossed up outside off, the ball seemed to have gripped the pitch, turns away and the cover drive attempted by Starc proved to be his undoing, it skews in the air off a thick outside half and extra cover takes an easy catch. The sub has a big smile on his face after taking it. Starc c (sub)Poysden b Moeen Ali 58(108) [4s-6 6s-1]

72.2 - Stokes to Hazlewood, out Caught by Root!! Super catch at third slip. The crowd go "Rooootttttt". Hazlewood flashed hard at a back of a length delivery and got a thick edge, it was flying and going over Root's head at third slip, but he leapt high and took it one-handed to his right. The ball stuck and then he runs away to celebrate. That is an outstanding take to end another frustrating stand. Hazlewood c Root b Stokes 11(20) [4s-1]

64.2 - Finn to Nevill, out Caught by Buttler!! Brilliant one-handed flying take down leg by Buttler and that's the end of Nevill. He played so well but has gotten out softly. Down leg and full, he tried to glance and got a clear edge, Buttler anticipated the shot and flew to his left and grabbed it beautifully. Aleem Dar knew it and gave it out. Nevill had to review for he was the last hope. But his optimism has been proved false. Nevill c Buttler b Finn 59(147) [4s-7]

46.1 - Finn to Johnson, out Caught by Stokes!! Strange dismissal. The cameraman was focussing towards deep mid-wicket as Johnson played the shot. Similar dismissal to Warner's. They are checking for the no-ball - both front foot and back. But Finn is fine on both counts. The crowd roar after Johnson walks back. Johnson tried to short-arm pull a length ball angling in, gets a thick leading edge, the ball balloons to point where Stokes settles under the skier. Five-for for Finn and he strikes first ball to end this frustrating stand. Johnson c Stokes b Finn 14(38) [4s-1]

28.3 - Anderson to Warner, out Caught by Lyth!! Anderson strikes and it is the massive wicket of Warner. A simple catch to short cover. Warner was of late trying to wrist everything to leg, looking to exploit the gap that is there on the on-side. This one was on a back of a length and Warner played the flick early, the leading edge goes straight up and it's a dolly to Lyth. The one man who could've threatened England's chances of winning walks back with a forlorn look on his face. Warner c Lyth b Anderson 77(62) [4s-11]

22.1 - Finn to M Marsh, out Bowled!! Cleaned up. Through the bat and pad gap. Full and angling in, once it hits the seam it moves in extravagantly and crashes into middle, beating Marsh's big drive. He left a gap the last time he was struck on the thigh and was lucky to survive the lbw call. No such luck this time. Finn has four and Australia are five down. M Marsh b Finn 6(24)

16.4 - Finn to Voges, out Caught by Bell!! England on fire. Finn is on a hat-trick. He is running around in delight. In the corridor of uncertainty, Voges could've left that, but he hung his bat out and the edge carried nicely to 2nd slip where Bell reverse-cupped it onto his chest and went backwards. A golden duck for Voges and his sorry Ashes series continues. Australia in all sorts of strife here at Edgbaston. Voges c Bell b Finn 0(1)

16.3 - Finn to Clarke, out Caught by Lyth!! Edged and gone. Good catch at fourth slip. Lyth roars after taking it. Yet another failure for Clarke in the series. On a short of length and outside off, squared Clarke up on the back foot defence, the edge was dying on Lyth who went to his left and grabbed it with both hands. Clarke grimaces on the way back to the hut. Much like Smith, Clarke too gets out to Finn in both innings of the game. Clarke c Lyth b Finn 3(19)

12.2 - Finn to S Smith, out Caught by Buttler!! What a brain-fade from Smith! Finn is embraced in bear-hug by Broad. Short outside off, Smith lines up for a big pull, suddenly the ball got big on him and the top edge went up. Buttler called for it early and Cook at first slip moved away, clearing the way for the keeper to take the high ball. Easily held and it's a double failure for Smith in the match - falling to Finn in both innings. S Smith c Buttler b Finn 8(27) [4s-1]

3.2 - Broad to Chris Rogers, out Lbw!! The change of angle has done the trick first ball. Full and angled in towards off and middle, Chris Rogers was better off playing it with a straight bat, instead he closes the bat face and looks to work it to leg, misses and is struck on the back leg in front, easy decision for Gaffaney and Hawk-Eye will soon confirm that it was crashing into the stumps. Chris Rogers lbw b Broad 6(13) [4s-1]

52.0 - Broad to Nevill, no run, was there bat/glove on that? Need a replay to confirm my doubts. Anyway Buttler dropped it after flinging to his left. Broad tried the inswinger and Nevill was looking to glance that away fine. Broad has his hands on his head - suggesting that Nevill may have got something on that. But when did Broad not die wondering?

31.3 - Stokes to Nevill, no run, Stokes went for the yorker, it turned out to be a low full toss that tailed back in, Nevill drove and missed, but got outside the line of off, the ball was hitting the base of off but the impact was outside off. Gaffaney gets it right. Third umpire vindicates his decision. Stokes was very sure that he got his man but his optimism was proved to be false

20.5 - Finn to M Marsh, no run, pitched up and seamed back in, Marsh was playing outside the line of the ball, left a big gap between bat and pad, lucky that he was struck on the back thigh pad and since height was an issue, he survived. Replays show that it was just clipping top of middle. Aleem Dar gave it not out and his decision stands

14.0 - Broad to Warner, 3 runs, 50 for Warner and Nasser on air tells us that it equals the fastest ever Ashes fifty. From round the wicket, full outside off, Warner gets forward and eases drive through cover, Anderson runs after it and pulls it back with a slide. The throw was over the keeper but they are happy with three. Warner raises his bat to acknowledge the applause

32.1 - Mitchell Marsh to Root, FOUR, friendly ball on the pads and Root puts it away. Down leg and clipped away behind square, the ball raced away to the fence in a hurry and then the celebrations begin. England go 2-1 up in the series

31.4 - Lyon to Root, FOUR, that is nailed by Root. Saw the flight on that and went down to slog-sweep, got it off the middle of the bat and beat Johnson at deep backward square, just the two needed now. The crowd are into the act now

31.0 - Mitchell Marsh to Root, FOUR, into the gap that time. Short and wide outside off, Root reaches out and square cuts that hard and wide of backward point. No need to chase that down. The target is down to single figures now

27.4 - Lyon to Bell, FOUR, slog sweep again, but this time it's from Bell, he kneels down and places it through mid-wicket, timed it so well and it raced away in no time

26.0 - Lyon to Bell, FOUR, its again that late shot Bell plays, tossed up around the off-stump line, Bell makes room and punches it late through cover, timed that sweetly and brings up the 100 for England

23.4 - Starc to Bell, FOUR, there comes the late steer again to the vacant third man region, the move to promote Bell to number three has worked for England, he lifts his bat and acknowledges the applause from the crowd and the dressing room. This is his 45th Test fifty, he played that ball late and as Gower on air says "Its his trademark shot."

22.3 - Hazlewood to Root, FOUR, this time he made a better connection, full and straight again, Root went with the drive and placed it straight down the ground, no need to chase that

13.4 - Hazlewood to Root, FOUR, there goes the ROOOOOOT music in the crowd, short and wide, Root goes on the back foot and cuts it square of the wicket, got if off the middle of the bat

11.2 - Hazlewood to Root, FOUR, short and wide, that's a dolly to the newcomer, Root stands on the back foot and cuts it square of the wicket, timed it to perfection and it raced away in a hurry

8.5 - Johnson to Bell, FOUR, Bell is not going to hang around, he will play his shots no matter what. This was pitched on a good length and well outside off, Bell throws his arms as he goes for the booming drive, places it between backward point and gully, no protection in the deep

7.5 - Lyon to Lyth, FOUR, floated up on off-stump line, Lyth meets the pitch of the ball and drives it past a diving cover, once it beat the fielder there was no stopping in the deep, he timed that well

7.2 - Lyon to Bell, FOUR, slightly short outside off, Bell jumps on the back foot and cuts it late behind square on the off-side, timed it to perfection

6.4 - Starc to Bell, FOUR, on the pads and that's easy pickings for Bell, he helps it on its way to the fine leg boundary

6.2 - Starc to Bell, FOUR, full and wide from Starc, Bell prods on the front foot and drives it square of the wicket, that was timed sweetly, raced away in a hurry

6.1 - Starc to Bell, FOUR, full and on the stumps, Bell waits for the ball to swing in and presents the full face of the bat as he punches past the non-striker, no need to run for those

5.3 - Lyon to Lyth, FOUR, short and plenty of air on offer, Lyth sits on the back foot and cuts it uppishly to the left of point, Warner didn't spot it and it raced away once it passed the fielder

5.0 - Starc to Bell, FOUR, lucky runs for Bell and England, back of a length and angled across off, Bell opens the face of the bat late and guides it through short third man off the inside half of the bat

4.2 - Starc to Bell, FOUR, you can't bowl that to Bell, he is such a classy player, full and hint of inswing on the pads, Bell flicks it through mid-wicket and gets off the mark in style

2.3 - Starc to Lyth, FOUR, first boundary of England's innings, half-volley and hint of outswing on offer, Lyth presses forward and punches it through cover, timed it well and it raced away

25.3 - Lyon to Root, SIX, the crowd are delighted, they go ROOOOT once again, tossed up delivery on off, Root kneels down and goes for the slog sweep, places it high and over deep mid-wicket

11.1 - Hazlewood to Lyth, out Lbw!! Hazlewood gets a wicket in his second over, this will give him some confidence going into the next match. On the other hand Lyth's poor Ashes series continues, pitched on a good length and swinging in late, Lyth was looking to flick it, missed it completely and is rapped on the pads. Loud appeal and is given out straightaway. Pitching in line, impact is in line and is hitting middle and leg stump. Lyth lbw b Hazlewood 12(28) [4s-3]

4.1 - Starc to Cook, out Bowled!! That's Mitchell Starc for you, bowled the English Skipper with a good length delivery that swings away late, Cook had no clue about it. Pitched on a length and gets it to swing away late, Cook was late in his defence, he was rooted on the back foot and missed the swing completely. The off-pole is clattered and Starc jumps high in delight. Cook b Starc 7(12)

7.0 - Starc to Bell, 1 run, was it dropped? Not sure, will confirm once they show the replays, this was a back of a length angled across Bell, he was looking to steer it away wide of the slip cordon, gets a thick outside edge that flies to the right of Clarke at second slip, he grasses it after attempting the dive. In fact it is a drop chance

28.2 - Johnson to Root, no run, this was a back of a length sliding down leg, Root was looking to glance it fine, he didn't get any bat to it, Nevill took a good catch diving full length to his left. Australia were confident that they got Root but it proved to be a waste of a review
